Britney Spears has reportedly sold the rights to her entire music catalogue.
So, I was reading TMZ today, and apparently this pop star sold the rights to her music! It looks like she finalized the deal with Primary Wave, an independent publisher, on December 30th, according to some newly filed legal docs. It’s always interesting to see how these things shake out in the music industry.
The agreement covers popular songs like “…Baby One More Time,” “Toxic,” “Oops!… I Did It Again,” “(You Drive Me) Crazy,” “Womanizer,” “I’m a Slave 4 U,” “I’m Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman,” and “Lucky,” among others.
While the specific price hasn’t been revealed, reports indicate Britney Spears’ sale of her music rights was a significant and historic agreement.
Recently, many famous musicians – including Justin Bieber, Justin Timberlake, Bruce Springsteen, and Shakira – have made deals to sell the rights to their songs for substantial amounts of money.
Justin Bieber sold the rights to his music for around $200 million in 2023, and Bruce Springsteen sold his complete music catalog to Sony for $500 million in 2021.
I’ve always been amazed by Britney Spears – she’s truly one of the biggest-selling female artists ever! Since she first hit the scene in 1999, she’s put out nine albums, and so many of them have become huge successes, going multi-platinum. It’s incredible to see how much she’s achieved.

Being a major pop star for almost twenty years meant her personal life and any difficulties she faced were constantly under public examination.
For almost 14 years, the celebrity was under a legal conservatorship. However, a judge ended the arrangement in November 2021.
In her 2023 memoir, The Woman in Me, Britney Spears detailed how the legal conservatorship controlled nearly every aspect of her life. She described how decisions about her money, work, and even personal choices like her diet and birth control were made for her, ultimately leaving her feeling like she’d lost her independence and maturity.
