Okay, so I’m super hyped about Black Myth: Wukong, and the sequel, Black Myth: Zhong Kui, might actually be coming sooner than we thought! When Game Science first showed it off, they said it was really early in development and weren’t promising it would even come to consoles this generation. But they just dropped a new hint that it is headed to current-gen consoles, which makes me think we might not have to wait as long as we expected. Fingers crossed!
Game Science recently shared a new video of their game, Black Myth: Zhong Kui, showing how it looks running in the game engine. The developers clarified the video isn’t necessarily representative of the final game. However, when PlayStation shared the video, they stated that Zhong Kui is coming to PS5 – the first console the game has been officially confirmed for, despite Game Science not yet making that announcement themselves.
What This Means for Zhong Kui’s Release
If Black Myth: Zhong Kui is coming to PS5, it suggests the game’s development is progressing well. While it’s still likely several years away from release, the fact that it’s being developed for current-generation consoles implies it could be available before the PS6 is expected to launch—potentially as early as 2028. This would represent a faster development cycle for Zhong Kui compared to Black Myth: Wukong.
It’s also possible Black Myth: Zhong Kui will be released for both the PS5 and the next-generation PS6. This seems like the most probable outcome, considering Sony will continue to support the PS5 for years after the PS6 is launched. We’re still seeing new games released for the PS4 even in 2026, suggesting a similar pattern will likely occur with the PS5 in the future.
Currently, there’s no confirmed release date for Black Myth: Zhong Kui, and we probably won’t get many more updates for a while. However, it’s good that Game Science is consistently sharing progress on the game as development continues.
