Two Years Later, Netflix Is Officially Adding Acclaimed Action Series

Netflix is starting 2026 strong with a great selection of shows and movies in January, including the popular series Love Through a Prism and the film Cosmic Princess Kaguya. As a leading streaming service, Netflix has been adding anime content regularly for quite some time, often releasing new series monthly. While many of these additions are older titles, Netflix keeps the content fresh. Looking ahead, the February lineup is smaller than January’s, and a new list is being prepared for March. According to What’s on Netflix, the anime series Wind Breaker will be available on the platform starting March 2nd, 2026 – two years after its initial release.

Wind Breaker is a popular action series set in a school, and a second season came out in 2025. While the first two seasons aired back-to-back, there’s no news yet about a third season. Last year, a live-action version was released, but it’s also unclear if that will continue. Currently, only the first season is planned for release on streaming platforms, with the second season potentially following a few months later.

What Is Wind Breaker About?

The story follows Haruka Sakura, a determined high school student who just transferred to Furin High. He’s been judged and isolated because of his unusual hair and eye color, leaving him feeling alone and unable to share his emotions. He used to find some relief in fighting, and hoped a move to a new town would give him a fresh start and a chance to become strong. What he didn’t realize is that the group of tough kids he admired were actually heroes, using their strength to protect the town.

Sakura never wanted to be a hero, and he didn’t feel a strong urge to protect others. The members of Bofurin, led by Hajime Umemiya, were already keeping the city safe, avoiding trouble with rival gangs. Surprisingly, Sakura quickly found his place among them, joining their efforts to protect the town. He finally felt accepted and appreciated for his actions. Through his heroic deeds, he began to open up and discovered a sense of belonging he’d always longed for.

The series centers around his rise to power within the Bofurin organization, as he faces challenges from rival gangs who disrupt the town’s stability. Season one concludes with a dramatic cliffhanger, leading into what many fans consider the manga’s best storyline, which will be featured in the upcoming second season. The manga, created by Satoru Nii, started in 2021 and can be read on the official Kodansha KManga app.
