A fantastic sci-fi movie from the 2010s recently disappeared from Netflix, and it highlights a frustrating trend with streaming services. Netflix regularly rotates its selection of movies and shows because it only licenses content for a limited time. Usually, though, when something leaves Netflix, it quickly becomes available on another streaming platform, giving viewers elsewhere a chance to watch it. But that’s not always the case, and this particular movie hasn’t shown up anywhere else yet.
However, one excellent but often forgotten sci-fi show hasn’t been so lucky. Netflix removed all seven seasons back in December, and it hasn’t appeared on any other streaming platforms since, leaving fans unable to watch it without buying it. This could unfortunately cause even fewer people to discover it over time. Sadly, this isn’t unique – many shows disappear from streaming services, making them hard to find.
The 100 Is One of the 2010s’ Most Underrated Sci-Fi Shows – But It’s Now Impossible to Stream

After leaving Netflix in December 2025, viewers can no longer watch The 100 through a streaming subscription. While the CW series was popular during its run, it’s become less talked about since it ended in 2020. Considering the show’s controversial ending and the cancellation of the planned prequel, this news isn’t entirely unexpected. Still, many fans enjoyed the earlier seasons, and it’s a shame new viewers can’t easily discover the show on streaming platforms now.
I really got hooked on The 100. It’s set after a nuclear war forces humanity to live in space, and the show centers around a group of young criminals sent back to Earth to see if it’s habitable. What I loved was that it wasn’t just about survival; it really made you think about things like power and how people form groups, especially when things are tough. It definitely had its issues, but there were some incredible moments. Plus, it was great to see so many strong, well-developed female characters in a sci-fi show. It’s a shame it doesn’t seem to be getting the attention it deserves now that it’s not as widely available.
Now that The 100 has been removed from Netflix, watching it requires a purchase. You can buy seasons on Prime Video, or find them on DVD and Blu-ray, though those can be hard to get. This leaves Prime Video as the easiest way to watch, but it’s not cheap – each season costs $21.99, bringing the total cost for the entire show to over $150.
The 100 Demonstrates a Growing Predicament of the Streaming Era

Unlike many shows that simply move from one streaming service to another, The 100 highlights a growing issue with today’s television landscape: shows are often completely removed from streaming platforms, either temporarily or permanently. We’ve seen this happen with series like Made for Love and Raised by Wolves. And shows created specifically for one streaming service rarely find a new home elsewhere.
Since fewer TV series are being released on DVD and Blu-ray, fans are increasingly concerned about not being able to access their favorite shows – or having to pay high prices for them – once they’re no longer popular. Streaming services still need to find a solution to this issue, which is a good reason to buy shows when they are available on physical media.
