Lisa McGee, the creator of the popular show Derry Girls, has a new series coming out, and ‘How to Get to Heaven from Belfast’ is quite different in tone and style from her previous hit comedy.
This comedy-thriller follows three friends reunited by a shocking event: the death of someone from their past. What begins as a search for answers quickly turns into a dangerous adventure as long-held secrets are revealed.
After her death, strange things start happening, sending those left behind on a wild, funny, and risky journey across Ireland and further afield as they try to uncover secrets about her life.
The new Netflix series ‘How to Get to Heaven from Belfast’ features a fantastic cast of Irish actors, including Roísín Gallagher, Sinéad Keenan, and Caoilfhionn Dunne. You’ll likely recognize many of the performers – here’s a look at who stars in the show and where you might have seen them before.

Roísín Gallagher as Saoirse

Saoirse is a successful TV writer known for being both smart and a bit unpredictable. She’s created her own popular police show, is getting married, and is even attending the BAFTAs. But beneath the surface, things aren’t as perfect as they appear, and she readily embraces the excitement of a new adventure.
You might recognize Roísín Gallagher from shows like The Dry, The Lovers, and the recent Prime Video series Lazarus. She’s also appeared in The Fall, Come Home, and Nowhere Special.
Sinéad Keenan as Robyn

Robyn is the most polished member of the group, and she works hard to maintain a stable home life while raising her three sons and navigating a marriage that’s okay, but not perfect. She’s under a lot of pressure and often feels like she’s barely coping.
You might recognize Sinéad Keenan from her popular role in the TV series Unforgotten, which is returning for another season. She’s also starred in Little Boy Blue, Showtrial, Three Families, and Being Human, and made a guest appearance on Derry Girls.
Caoilfhionn Dunne as Dara

Dara is a reserved and dedicated caregiver who undergoes significant personal growth throughout the series. Even as things become more complicated for the three main characters, she continues to learn about herself.
Okay, so you’re wondering where you recognize Caoilfhionn Dunne from? I get it, she’s quickly becoming a familiar face! I’ve seen her shine in shows like Industry, and more recently, she was fantastic in A Thousand Blows. But if those don’t ring a bell, she’s also popped up in popular series like Love/Hate, Andor, and even Doctor Who. A seriously versatile actress, and one to watch, definitely!
Josh Finan as Jason

I’m trying to figure out who this Jason is. He’s someone from the women’s past, and he’s suddenly reappeared, which is really confusing everyone involved.
You might recognize Josh Finan from his recent work in shows like Say Nothing and Waiting for the Out. He’s also appeared in The Gentleman, The Responder, Baby Reindeer, and an episode of Black Mirror.
Darragh Hand as Liam

Liam is a Garda officer who unexpectedly crosses paths with the women while helping them with roadside emergencies. He’s also deeply involved in the show’s main mystery, actively searching for the truth.
I’m a big fan of Darragh Hand! You might know him from a few different places. He’s done a lot of theatre work, but on TV, I definitely remember him from shows like Heartstopper, Grace, and Silent Witness. He’s fantastic in everything he does!
