I initially thought the appearance of a “Threaten” option for NPCs in a previous Crimson Desert trailer meant the game would have a system for law and order. Turns out, the newest features overview shows that Kliff can actually earn a bounty and even make an entire town turn against him by breaking the law.
Trouble might begin with minor theft, like pickpocketing or taking fallen fruit. This can quickly worsen into harassment and open conflict. Even if you’re capable of fighting, causing problems with the locals can harm the area’s overall progress. Considering the potential downsides, such as losing discounts or other benefits, it’s often not a good idea.
Kliff might get thrown in jail, though it seems more like a minor consequence. Maybe that’s the result of trying to fight everyone in town at the same time. Depending on what you do, you could also be required to pay a fine.
This game isn’t like Grand Theft Auto; the world is full of interesting things to find. Flying in a hot-air balloon could uncover ancient ruins floating in the sky, and you might even stumble upon a secret town and its inhabitants – though the trailer doesn’t show what it looks like just yet.
Crimson Desert arrives on March 19th with plenty to do, like building a base and farming, and we’re excited to start playing! While we’ve seen a full overview of the game’s features, Pearl Abyss might still have a few surprises to reveal in the next few weeks.
