One Piece Manga’s First 155 Chapters Release for Free Reading Thanks to Viz Media

As of today, while 155 chapters might not sound like a lot, the number of people starting to read One Piece is constantly increasing. This is especially true with new anime episodes and the live-action series being released.

The One Piece manga is now well into the exciting Elbaph Arc, with over 50 chapters completed. This arc follows Monkey D. Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates as they travel to Elbaph Island, a land inhabited by giants. A key part of this story is the introduction of Figarland Shamrock, Shanks’ villainous twin brother.

In November 2025, a video announcing Volume 113 of the One Piece manga was released on the official One Piece YouTube channel. This led many fans to believe that Tsuda will be the voice of Shamrock when the anime adapts the Elbaph Arc.

About a month before the release of the Volume 113 promotional video, Matsumi discussed how Toei Animation manages its changing animation teams while still giving staff creative control. He explained that the studio generally aims to let animators and all staff members have the freedom to express their ideas.

Matsumi explained that they aim to foster creativity and imagination, not restrict it. Recently, they’ve been collaborating with animators from outside Japan, which has brought fresh perspectives and sensibilities to their work. This collaboration, particularly on certain projects, allows them to create more compelling visuals, though they’re careful not to overdo it and always strive for balance. He finds the process very exciting.

New chapters of the One Piece manga are released every Monday via Viz Media.
