Authorities are sharing an update on key evidence in the Nancy Guthrie case.
The search for Savannah Guthrie’s mother, who is elderly, is still ongoing. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department has released new details about possible evidence found at a potential crime scene.
Investigators have found multiple gloves as part of their investigation, but these were not found on Nancy’s property in Tucson, Arizona. Surveillance footage from February 1st shows a masked man in the area.
According to a statement released by the sheriff on February 13th, the gloves were discovered about two miles away from the house. Reports claiming a glove was found inside or on the property are false. All evidence gathered has been sent to a lab for testing, according to MS NOW.
Police found gloves near the 84-year-old woman’s home, and they’ve also collected DNA evidence from inside that hasn’t been identified yet.
Investigators have found DNA on the property that doesn’t belong to Nancy Guthrie or people who have been in close contact with her. They are currently working to identify the source of this DNA, but are not releasing details about where it was found.
It’s been 13 days since the Guthrie family’s grandmother went missing, and news organizations have reportedly received ransom demands connected to her disappearance.
The FBI recently shared video from a doorbell camera and details about the person they believe kidnapped Nancy.
The FBI confirmed new details about the suspect in the Nancy Guthrie kidnapping case after analyzing footage from a doorbell camera, the bureau announced on February 12th.
According to witnesses, the suspect is a man around 5’9” to 5’10” tall with an average build. He was seen in the video carrying a black ‘Ozark Trail Hiker Pack’ backpack, which is about 25 liters in size.

Although Nancy’s family has expressed worries about her heart condition, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos stated that they have no information confirming her death.
He told Reuters he has no reason to think she is dead. He explained that everyone asks about her condition, but for him, it’s straightforward: his family believes she’s alive, he believes she’s alive, and the 400 officers on his team are working tirelessly with that same belief.

Nancy Guthrie, mother to Annie, Camron, and Savannah Guthrie, was last seen at her home in Tucson, Arizona, around 9:30 p.m. on January 31st, according to the Pima County police.

Police confirmed to Today that Nancy, age 84, was reported missing by her family on February 1st. A friend had noticed she didn’t attend church that morning and alerted her loved ones. After searching her property for about an hour, her children contacted authorities and reported her missing around noon.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos later explained the first steps of the investigation, which involved detectives specializing in homicides, at the victim’s home.
It’s unusual for us to involve the sheriff in a situation like this, but the details coming out of the house are deeply worrying,” he said at a press conference on February 2nd. “This case was particularly striking because of what officers described finding and what we observed at the scene itself.
It was definitely unusual, as Detective Nanos explained. Usually, our homicide team only gets involved when there’s an actual death, a body to investigate. But in this case, they were called out solely based on what the land surveyors had reported – it wasn’t a typical situation at all, and honestly, it made me really curious about what they’d found.

After looking into the situation, authorities said they think a crime happened at Nancy’s house.
During a press conference on February 2nd, Nanos stated that investigators have confirmed a crime scene after processing the location. He asked for the public’s assistance, noting that the community has consistently helped solve difficult cases in the past and he hopes they will do so again.
The sheriff pointed out that Nancy had trouble walking on her own – he said she couldn’t walk even 50 yards without help – which led him to suspect something wasn’t right about her disappearance.
He stated definitively that she didn’t simply leave on her own, emphasizing, “There’s evidence at the location suggesting she didn’t go willingly.”

The search for Nancy is still ongoing, and officials are concerned because she requires daily medication to stay healthy, and she probably doesn’t have it with her.
During a press conference on February 2nd, Nanos explained that an 84-year-old woman under his care is facing serious health issues and urgently needs medication. Without it within 24 hours, her condition could become life-threatening.
We’re asking anyone with information about this – if you’ve seen or heard anything, please get in touch. Call 911. We don’t want another tragedy, and we really need the public’s help.
I’ve been following Nancy’s health journey, and while she’s faced some physical challenges for a while now, it’s really encouraging to see how sharp and mentally strong she remains. Her mind is still incredibly active and capable, which is truly wonderful.
According to Dr. Nanos, Nancy Guthrie is mentally sound and this situation isn’t related to dementia. She’s very alert and capable. The family wants to emphasize that she didn’t simply wander away; her limited mobility is simply due to her age.
With the search for Nancy still ongoing, Nanos expressed his wish for her to come home safely.
“I hope we find her safe and sound,” he emphasized, “but we cannot ignore what’s in front of us.”

The day after Nancy was reported missing, the anchor of the Today show shared how difficult this time is for her family.
In a statement to NBC’s morning show on February 2nd, she expressed her family’s gratitude for all the supportive thoughts, prayers, and messages. Their main priority right now is bringing Nancy home safely.
She expressed gratitude to law enforcement for their efforts in the case and asked anyone with information to please reach out to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.

Once Savannah learned her mother, Nancy, had been reported missing, her colleagues on the Today show immediately voiced their support publicly.
Jenna Bush Hager shared on the February 2nd episode of Today with Jenna & Sheinelle that she is personally friends with Nancy and has a lot of affection for her.
She continued, saying they were thinking of Savannah and her family and sending their prayers to everyone affected.
Meanwhile, Sheinelle Jones emphasized the importance of community during this difficult time.
She felt the show truly showcased the community at its finest when it asked viewers to reach out to the Pima County Sheriff’s department with any information related to the case, even if it seemed insignificant.
She added, “So we’re sending our prayers but we’re also sending our collective action.”
Before concluding the segment, both hosts continued, “We love you, Savannah.”

And Sunday Today anchor Willie Geist also urged fans to keep an eye out for Nancy.
I was really worried to see a post on Instagram on February 2nd asking for help finding Savannah Guthrie’s mom, Nancy. Someone shared a message asking anyone with information about her whereabouts to please contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department in Arizona, and included their number. It’s just heartbreaking, and I hope she’s found safe soon.
Savannah’s former colleague, Hoda Kotb, responded to the surprising announcement by posting a heartwarming photo of Savannah and Nancy together on the Today show set. Hoda’s caption on the February 2nd Instagram post was simply a red heart and prayer hands emoji.

Police have labeled Nancy’s home in Arizona a crime scene, but they say there’s no reason for the public to be worried.
Pima County Sheriff Nanos stated in a press conference on February 2nd that he doesn’t believe there’s a current danger, but emphasized that the investigation is ongoing and much work remains.
Savannah hasn’t appeared on Today since February 1st, when her mother was reported missing. However, local authorities have been checking in with her to ensure she’s safe.
I heard from the sheriff myself! Apparently, they have spoken to her, thank goodness. Her security team has been working with them all night, which is a relief, but they’re still not ruling anything out. Honestly, they have to be thorough, for her sake! It’s just… everything feels so unreal.

On Feb. 2, Pima County police shared a series of updates on the timeline of Nancy’s disappearance.
Investigators now think the woman was likely taken from her home against her will, perhaps while she was sleeping, according to a Pima County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson on February 2nd. Detectives are investigating the possibility that she was kidnapped.

After news broke that Nancy might have been taken from her home in Arizona while she was sleeping, Savannah made a heartfelt plea.
In a recent Instagram post from February 2nd, she shared her beliefs, writing about the power of prayer, the strength of people coming together with love and hope, and a faith in goodness, humanity, and ultimately, God.
Savannah continued, expressing gratitude for everyone’s prayers for her mother, Nancy. She described Nancy as a woman of strong beliefs and a devoted person, and asked for continued prayers, believing they would offer comfort and support right now.
She added, “we need you.”
To conclude her plea, Savannah shared a Bible verse from Isaiah.
She shared a verse from Isaiah, writing, “He will keep those with steadfast hearts, who trust in the Lord, in perfect peace.” She added that this message is timeless and applies to everyone.
Savannah continued, “Bring her home.”

Pima County Sheriff Nanos stated that DNA evidence was discovered at Nancy’s home, which is now being treated as a crime scene.
We collected samples and are hoping they contain enough DNA to help us identify what we’re investigating,” he said in a report on NBC’s Today on February 3.
Two days after Nancy went missing, Nanos explained what happened leading up to her disappearance at a press conference.
I was really disturbed to learn that just four hours after she got back from seeing her family, at 1:47 a.m., her doorbell camera went offline. That’s what she shared at the press conference on February 5th, and it’s a key detail in understanding what happened.
Okay, so here’s what happened with the doorbell camera. It did detect someone, which is good, but unfortunately the clip was automatically deleted. It turns out Nancy doesn’t have a paid subscription to the service, and those recordings don’t get saved long-term. However, we’re still working on trying to recover the footage, so don’t give up hope just yet! It’s a good reminder that often, those free versions of security systems have limitations, and a subscription is really the way to ensure you have access to everything you need.
The sheriff explained that Nancy’s pacemaker app lost connection with her phone at 2:28 a.m. The family found her missing at 11:56 a.m., and 911 was called to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department just three minutes later, at 12:03 p.m.
It happened pretty quickly, maybe ten minutes after the initial call. He explained that once the patrol teams arrived and assessed the situation, everything kicked into gear. We immediately launched our search and rescue teams, and the detectives started working on all aspects of the case. It’s a well-coordinated process, and it’s reassuring to see it happen so efficiently.

On February 4th, Savannah, Camron, and Annie read letters they had written, hoping to reach their mother and anyone who might be holding her, asking for her safe return.
In a video posted to Instagram, the family spokesperson said they’re doing everything possible and are willing to communicate. They emphasized the need for absolute proof that their loved one is alive and in the possession of those they are communicating with, given how easily videos and audio can be altered these days.
My mom is the center of our world and everything to us. Sadly, her health is very delicate, and she’s in constant pain. She doesn’t have access to the medication she desperately needs to both stay alive and feel better.
The next day, Camron confirmed in a separate video that the family was still “waiting for contact.”
We’re asking whoever has our mother to please contact us. We haven’t received any direct communication and need to establish a way to connect so we can begin to resolve this situation.
During a press conference on February 5th, FBI Special Agent Heith Janke announced the arrest of Derrick Callella from California. Callella is accused of sending fake texts as part of a scheme to profit from the situation, and authorities are investigating a detailed ransom letter shared with TMZ as a serious threat. Callella has not yet entered a plea and was released on a $20,000 bond.
However, he noted, the Guthrie family was “still waiting for communication.”

On February 7th, the day officials told Today they had searched Annie’s Arizona property as a routine step in the investigation, Savannah posted a new video on Instagram suggesting her earlier wish had come true.
Speaking while holding hands with Camron and Annie, she said they had received the message and understood its contents. She pleaded for their mother’s return, explaining it was the only way they could find peace and celebrate with her.
And if her intentions weren’t clear, Savannah added, “This is very valuable to us and we will pay.”

Investigators shared surveillance photos of a person of interest in the case on February 10th.
Footage from a security camera on Nancy’s property shows someone wearing a ski mask and carrying a backpack walking up to the house. The person then appears to punch the camera, breaking it. Police had previously noted the camera was damaged when they arrived.
As a longtime follower of this case, I’ve been following the efforts to recover the video from Nancy Guthrie’s home, and I just learned they’ve had some success! For the past eight days, the FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department have been working with tech experts to find any lost or damaged footage. Apparently, they were able to recover the video not from the devices themselves, but from data still stored on the systems behind them. It’s a relief to hear they’re still digging and finding clues, even after the recording devices were removed.
“Working with our partners,” the note continued, “law enforcement has uncovered these previously inaccessible new images showing an armed individual appearing to have tampered with the camera at Nancy Guthrie’s front door the morning of her disappearance.”
Oh my gosh, two days after the FBI finally showed us that creepy figure going near Nancy’s house, they gave us some details about who it might be! I’ve been pouring over everything, trying to figure it out. It’s just…everything! They’re describing the suspect, and I’m analyzing every word, hoping to catch something, anything that will help them find this person. I just want Nancy to be safe!
According to the FBI’s Phoenix office, the suspect is a man around 5’9” to 5’10” tall with an average build. He was seen in a video wearing a black ‘Ozark Trail Hiker Pack’ backpack with a capacity of 25 liters.
The FBI is now offering a $100,000 reward – up from $50,000 – for information that helps find Nancy Guthrie or leads to the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance.
