Ross Kemp, famous for playing Grant Mitchell on EastEnders, will be returning to the show this spring for a big storyline.
Grant made a brief appearance on February 27, 2025, during the show’s 40th anniversary, returning to Albert Square when Phil’s mental health became a worry.
Grant, who’s been living in Portugal, is returning to Walford after his son, Mark (played by Stephen Aaron-Sipple), asks him to. This will be the first time they’ve met since Mark found out the truth about who his father is.
Grant’s comeback happens as family friend Nigel (Paul Bradley) struggles with worsening dementia, and Grant will become involved in this difficult storyline. Although details are being kept secret, viewers can expect some dramatic and intense scenes.
Ross Kemp expressed his excitement about returning to EastEnders as Grant Mitchell later this year. He’s looking forward to showing Grant trying to rebuild his relationship with his son, Mark, and is particularly honored to be involved in the storyline about Nigel’s dementia, a subject that is personally meaningful to him due to a family experience.

Grant Mitchell first appeared in EastEnders on February 22, 1990, and rapidly became known as one of the show’s toughest characters. He was part of the famous Mitchell brothers duo, alongside Phil Mitchell (played by Steve McFadden).
EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
