A popular Xbox game is currently on sale for just $3 in the Microsoft Store – a massive 95% discount from its usual price of $60. This offer is only available until February 25th. The game is for Xbox One, but it can be played on Xbox Series X and S consoles thanks to backward compatibility. This makes it a great deal for anyone, whether they’re still using an Xbox One or have upgraded to the newer consoles. Please note that this deal is for a digital copy of the game only, available through the Microsoft Store.
For the next 11 days, Xbox players (on Xbox One, Series S, and Series X) can get their hands on XCOM 2, a turn-based strategy game from Firaxis and 2K Games. XCOM 2 is a sequel to the critically acclaimed XCOM: Enemy Unknown from 2012, which successfully revived the classic XCOM series. While not quite as highly rated as the first game, XCOM 2 was still one of the best strategy games of 2016, earning an 88 on Metacritic and a nomination for Best Strategy Game at The Game Awards (though it lost to Civilization VI, also by Firaxis).
One of the Xbox One’s Best Tactics Games
With a Metacritic score of 88, XCOM 2 is a top-tier tactics game, especially for the latter half of the 2010s and on Xbox One. At just $3, it’s an incredible value, considering the sheer amount of gameplay it offers. Expect to spend 30-50 hours finishing the main story, and 80-90 hours if you aim to complete everything this strategy game has to offer.
First Game Not So Cheap
Right now, you can get XCOM 2 for only $3, a huge discount from its original $60 price. However, the first XCOM game is still selling for its full $40. Even though they’re connected, the story of the first game doesn’t really affect XCOM 2 – the games assume you lost the first one, no matter what happened. So, you don’t need to play the original to enjoy the sequel. While the first game generally has better ratings, that’s mostly because it came out earlier and set the stage. They’re very similar games, meaning you won’t miss much by starting with XCOM 2. If even $3 seems like too much, there’s a new free RPG available on Xbox Series X.
