Over the years, many excellent Batman animated series have been made, and a surprisingly good one is becoming available to stream for free. While Batman: The Animated Series is widely considered the best, a cult favorite from the early 2000s deserves more attention. Originally airing on Kids’ WB in 2004 and then Cartoon Network in 2005, this show actually won six Daytime Emmy Awards and exceeded all expectations. Now, fans will get another chance to watch it without paying a thing.
On March 1st, Tubi will start streaming a large collection of animated shows from Cartoon Network and Warner Bros., including The Batman. This release includes many titles previously available on HBO Max, such as The Animaniacs, Ben 10, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Dexter’s Laboratory, Ed, Edd ‘n Eddy, Justice League, Pinky and the Brain, and The Powerpuff Girls.
What to Remember About The Batman

The animated series The Batman ran for five seasons, totaling 65 episodes. The show began with Batman operating in a Gotham City that was starting to win the fight against crime. Initially, Police Chief Angel Rojas ordered a hunt for Batman, even though some officers, like Detective Ellen Yin, believed the city still needed him. Later in the series, James Gordon became the new police commissioner and became a key ally to Batman.
What makes this series stand out is that Batgirl was introduced before Robin. This happened because Nightwing was already featured in the Teen Titans show, and DC didn’t want any character appearing in two shows at the same time to avoid confusing viewers. Once Teen Titans finished, Dick’s version of Robin finally made his debut in Season 4.
The series featured classic Batman villains, brought to life by well-known actors. Ron Perlman was the voice of Killer Croc, Robert Englund voiced the Riddler, Tom Kenny played the Penguin, Jason Marsden was Firefly, Clancy Brown was Mr. Freeze, and Mark Hamill—famous for his role as the Joker—voiced Tony Zucco. A spin-off movie, Batman vs. Dracula, was also created, continuing the story with the same version of Batman.
Despite initial resistance from devoted fans of Batman: The Animated Series, The Batman successfully ran for five seasons and established itself as a strong series in its own right. It’s worth revisiting now – it’s become a beloved show for those who discovered it in the 2000s, and with Warner Bros. cartoons now available on Tubi, you can watch it for free.
