Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 Requires Windows 11 and 16 GB RAM Minimum on PC

The PC system requirements for Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 have been released, and they’re a bit unexpected. Steam lists Windows 11 (64-bit) and at least 16 GB of RAM as the minimum requirements. They also recommend using a solid-state drive for the best experience.

To run this game, you’ll need at least an Intel Core i5-9600K processor, 16 GB of RAM, and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 graphics card. For a smoother experience, we recommend an Intel Core i5-10500, 16 GB of RAM, and an Nvidia GTX 1650. A solid-state drive is highly recommended for optimal performance. Regardless of your setup, you’ll need 34 GB of free hard drive space to install the game.

It makes some sense that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots needed a significant hardware upgrade from earlier games, especially given the technology available at the time. However, it’s a bit surprising that its minimum RAM requirement is the same as Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, which was built from scratch using the much more advanced Unreal Engine 5.

All of this is largely academic, though, as we don’t understand how the game collection is emulated, and it’s unknown if Metal Gear Solid 4 and Peace Walker have even better graphics than the original games. Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 will be available on August 27th for Xbox Series X/S, PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. While the online multiplayer component of Metal Gear Online isn’t included, the cooperative modes in Peace Walker are still playable.
