After a few challenging years, Marvel Studios is releasing fewer movies and TV shows, but there’s still a lot for fans to enjoy. The highly ambitious Avengers: Doomsday is coming in December, but first, audiences will see Tom Holland return as Spider-Man in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. This film is expected to be a major summer hit and is just one part of what promises to be a huge year for Spider-Man.
While the new Marvel movie Brand New Day will likely be the biggest Spider-Man news, there are other projects coming soon. In 2026, you can expect the Spider-Noir TV show on Prime Video (which isn’t connected to the main Marvel Cinematic Universe) and the second season of the animated Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man on Disney+. This will be the first time ever that three Spider-Man projects – movies or shows – starring Spider-Man himself all come out in one year (excluding other Marvel films from Sony that don’t feature Spider-Man). It also marks the first time we’ll see both a live-action Spider-Man movie and a TV series released in the same year.
Why 2026 Could Be the Most Exciting Year for Spider-Man On Screen

It might seem like too much to have three different Spider-Man projects all at once, especially when people are worried about seeing the same characters everywhere. But Spider-Man fans shouldn’t have to worry about getting tired of the character this year. Each project – Brand New Day, Your Friendly Neighborhood, and Spider-Noir – offers a completely different take on the hero, which means they can all succeed. If the same Spider-Man version starred in all three, that would be a problem, but these are all unique stories.
The new movie, Brand New Day, is set to be a major summer release and continues the main storyline of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While it builds on what’s come before, it aims to offer something fresh by focusing on a more personal, street-level story – a direction not yet explored during Tom Holland’s time as Spider-Man. This film could feel reminiscent of the early Spider-Man movies, emphasizing Peter Parker’s role as a local hero protecting New York City. Plus, it will include appearances from popular MCU characters like the Hulk, Punisher, and Scorpion. Any new Spider-Man movie is cause for excitement, but this one looks to be a particularly noteworthy addition to the MCU.
The upcoming TV series look particularly promising. Spider-Noir has the potential to be the most captivating Marvel show of the year, offering a truly original storytelling style. The first trailer reveals a show heavily inspired by classic detective films, starring Nicolas Cage as a weary private investigator named Ben Reilly. Its unique look and feel set it apart from anything else in the superhero genre, making it a standout project this year. On the other end of the spectrum, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man stands out with its distinctive animation and alternate timeline, allowing for new and interesting takes on familiar characters and ideas.
These three movies demonstrate the incredible variety of ways comic books can be adapted for the screen. Just like the comics themselves, there’s no single formula for success. Even decades after the first Spider-Man film, there are still new stories to tell with this character, and it will be exciting to see what happens next. As Spider-Man remains Marvel’s most popular hero, filmmakers will continue to explore different ways to bring his adventures to life.
