Authorities have discovered key information in the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie.
The FBI is investigating the disappearance of Savannah Guthrie’s mother, who was last seen on February 1st. They’ve confirmed a glove found near her home in Tucson, Arizona, may be connected to a masked individual captured on her doorbell camera.
According to a statement released on February 15th, investigators found around 16 gloves near the house. Most of these were gloves discarded by search teams during the investigation. However, one glove contained a DNA profile and appears to match the gloves worn by the person seen in surveillance footage.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department reported two days prior about the gloves, and shared where they were discovered.
According to a statement released on February 13th, the sheriff said the nearest gloves were discovered about two miles from the house. Claims that a glove was found inside the home or on the property are false. All evidence gathered has been sent to the lab for testing, according to MS NOW.
Investigators also found DNA on Nancy Guthrie’s property that didn’t belong to her or anyone close to her. They haven’t revealed where exactly it was found, but are currently working to identify the person it belongs to.

The FBI released details and a photo of the person who approached Nancy’s house while wearing a ski mask.
The FBI’s Phoenix office reported on X (formerly Twitter) on February 12th that the suspect is a man around 5’9” to 5’10” tall with an average build. He was seen in a video wearing a black ‘Ozark Trail Hiker Pack’ backpack with a capacity of 25 liters.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos has stated that while investigators are dedicated to finding answers, the case may take time to resolve.
He told the New York Times on February 13th that they could find Nancy “in an hour, or weeks, months, or even years,” but they wouldn’t give up until they did. He also stated they would find the person responsible.

Nancy Guthrie, mother to Annie, Camron, and Savannah Guthrie, was last seen at her home in Tucson, Arizona, around 9:30 p.m. on January 31st, according to the Pima County police.

Police confirmed to Today that Nancy, age 84, was reported missing by her family on February 1st. A friend noticed she hadn’t been at church that morning and let her family know. After searching her property for about an hour, her children contacted the authorities around noon to report her missing.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos later explained the first steps of the investigation, which involved detectives specializing in homicides, at the victim’s home.
We don’t usually involve the sheriff in situations like this, but the details emerging from the house are deeply troubling,” he said at a press conference on February 2nd. “This case was particularly unusual based on what officers described and what we discovered at the scene.
This isn’t how things usually work,” Nanos explained. “Normally, our homicide detectives are called out when someone dies, when there’s a body. In this case, we sent them based solely on what the surveyors reported.”

After looking into the situation, officials stated they think a crime happened at Nancy’s house.
During a press conference on February 2nd, Nanos stated that investigators now believe they have confirmed a crime scene after processing the location. He asked for the public’s help, noting that the community has consistently assisted in solving difficult cases and he hopes they will do so again.
The sheriff pointed out that Nancy had trouble walking—she couldn’t walk even a short distance on her own—which led him to suspect something wasn’t right about her disappearance.
He stated definitively, “She didn’t simply leave on her own,” and explained that evidence at the location suggests she didn’t leave voluntarily.

As we all follow the news about Nancy, I want to highlight a really critical point the authorities have shared: she absolutely needs to take daily medication to stay healthy. And the biggest worry right now is that she doesn’t have access to it. It’s a really urgent situation, and keeping that in mind as the search continues is so important.
I was really worried to hear what Dr. Nanos said at the press conference on February 2nd. She described an 84-year-old woman who’s quite frail and needs vital medication. It’s terrifying, but apparently, she needs that medication within 24 hours, or it could be life-threatening. It just highlights how urgent this situation is.
We’re asking anyone with information about this – if you’ve seen or heard anything at all – to please get in touch with us. Call 911. We want to avoid another tragedy and really need the public’s help.
Although Nancy has faced some health challenges, Dr. Nanos highlighted that her thinking and memory skills remain sharp.
According to Dr. Nanos, Nancy Guthrie is mentally alert and this isn’t a case of dementia. She’s still very sharp. The family wants to emphasize that she didn’t simply wander off, and any physical limitations she has are simply due to her age.
With the search for Nancy still ongoing, Nanos expressed his wish for her to come home safely.
“I hope we find her safe and sound,” he emphasized, “but we cannot ignore what’s in front of us.”

The day after Nancy was reported missing, the anchor of the Today show publicly shared how difficult this time is for her family.
In a statement to NBC’s morning show on February 2nd, she expressed her family’s gratitude for all the support, prayers, and kind messages they’ve received. Their main priority right now is bringing Nancy home safely.
She expressed gratitude to law enforcement for their efforts in the investigation and asked anyone with relevant information to reach out to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.

As soon as Savannah Guthrie shared the news that her mom, Nancy, had been reported missing, everyone at Today immediately rallied around her. It was so heartwarming to see her co-anchors publicly offer their support during such a difficult time – they’re clearly a close-knit team, and it meant a lot to see them stand with her.
Jenna Bush Hager shared on the February 2nd episode of Today with Jenna & Sheinelle that she is personally friends with Nancy and has a lot of affection for her.
She continued, saying they were deeply thinking of Savannah and her family, and sending their prayers to everyone affected.
Meanwhile, Sheinelle Jones emphasized the importance of community during this difficult time.
She felt the show was at its strongest when it called on the community for help, asking viewers to reach out to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department with any information related to the case, even if it seemed insignificant.
She added, “So we’re sending our prayers but we’re also sending our collective action.”
Before concluding the segment, both hosts continued, “We love you, Savannah.”

And Sunday Today anchor Willie Geist also urged fans to keep an eye out for Nancy.
On February 2nd, he posted on Instagram asking anyone with information about the whereabouts of Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy, to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department in Arizona. He also included the department’s phone number, stating that she was missing.
Savannah’s former colleague, Hoda Kotb, responded to the surprising announcement by posting a heartwarming photo of Savannah and Nancy together on the Today show set. In a brief message on Instagram from February 2nd, Hoda shared a red heart and praying hands emoji.

Police have labeled Nancy’s home in Arizona a crime scene, but they say there’s no reason for the public to be worried.
At a press conference on February 2nd, Pima County Sheriff Nanos stated that he didn’t believe there was an immediate danger, but cautioned that the investigation was ongoing and much work remained.
Savannah hasn’t been on Today since February 1st, when her mother was reported missing. However, local authorities have been checking in with her to ensure she’s safe.
The sheriff confirmed they had spoken with her. Her security team has been communicating with them all night, but they aren’t ruling anything out at this point.

On Feb. 2, Pima County police shared a series of updates on the timeline of Nancy’s disappearance.
Investigators now think the woman was likely taken from her home against her will, perhaps while she was sleeping, according to a Pima County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson on February 2nd. Detectives are investigating the possibility that she was kidnapped.

After news broke that Nancy might have been taken from her home in Arizona while she was sleeping, Savannah made a heartfelt plea.
In a recent Instagram post on February 2nd, she shared her faith, writing, “We believe in the power of prayer, in people coming together with love and hope, in goodness, and in the best of humanity. Most importantly, we believe in God.”
Savannah continued, thanking everyone for keeping her mother, Nancy, in their thoughts and prayers. She described Nancy as a woman of strong beliefs and a devoted person, and asked for continued prayers, believing they would provide comfort and strength right now.
She added, “we need you.”
To conclude her plea, Savannah shared a Bible verse from Isaiah.
She shared a verse from Isaiah, writing, “He will keep those with steadfast hearts, who trust in the Lord, in perfect peace.” She added that it’s a timeless message for everyone.
Savannah continued, “Bring her home.”

Pima County Sheriff Nanos stated that DNA evidence was discovered at Nancy’s house, which is now being treated as a crime scene.
I was really hoping the samples they collected would give them a strong enough DNA profile. They shared an update on Today, saying they’re working to identify what they’ve found, and that’s what those samples are for. It’s exciting to think we might finally get some answers!
Two days after Nancy went missing, Nanos explained what happened leading up to her disappearance in a press conference.
According to Nanos, the doorbell camera stopped working at 1:47 a.m., about four hours after she got back from a family visit, as she explained in a press conference on February 5th.
The software identified someone at the door, but the video was automatically deleted because Nancy didn’t pay for a subscription. However, the representative assured her they were still working to recover the recording.
I’ve been following this case obsessively, and the details are just… haunting. Apparently, at 2:28 AM, Nancy’s pacemaker app showed it lost connection with her phone. Then, hours later, at 11:56 AM, her family went to check on her and found she was just… gone. They called 911 immediately, at 12:03 PM, and it went straight to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department. It’s just… chilling to think about the timeline.
It all happened so quickly. About ten minutes after the initial call, the officer explained that the patrol teams would roll in, assess the situation, and then things would really get moving. We’d have search and rescue working to find anyone who needed help, and detectives starting their investigation across all the different units.

On February 4th, Savannah, Camron, and Annie read letters hoping to secure their mother’s safe return, addressing them to both their mom and anyone who might be holding her.
In a video posted to Instagram, the family stated they are doing everything possible and are willing to communicate. They emphasized the prevalence of manipulated media and urgently requested undeniable proof that their loved one is alive and in the possession of those they are addressing.
She described her mother as the center of their world and their safe haven. Sadly, her mother’s health is very delicate, and she’s constantly in pain. She doesn’t have access to the medication she desperately needs, both to stay alive and to relieve her suffering.
The next day, Camron confirmed in a separate video that the family was still “waiting for contact.”
We’re asking whoever has our mother to please contact us. We haven’t received any direct communication and need to establish a way to connect so we can begin to resolve this.
During a press conference on February 5th, FBI agent Heith Janke announced the arrest of Derrick Callella from California. Callella is accused of sending fake texts as part of a scheme to make money, which Janke described as a complete fraud. Authorities are also investigating a detailed ransom letter shared with TMZ and are taking the threat very seriously. Callella has not yet entered a plea and was released on a $20,000 bond.
However, he noted, the Guthrie family was “still waiting for communication.”

On February 7th, the day officials told Today they had searched Annie’s Arizona home as a routine part of the investigation, Savannah posted another video on Instagram suggesting they’d received a response to a previous request.
Speaking while holding hands with Camron and Annie, she said they understood the message and pleaded for their mother’s return. She explained that having her back was the only thing that would bring them peace and allow them to celebrate together.
And if her intentions weren’t clear, Savannah added, “This is very valuable to us and we will pay.”

On February 10th, investigators shared surveillance photos of a person they believe may be connected to the case.
Footage from a security camera on Nancy’s property shows someone wearing a ski mask and carrying a backpack walking toward her home. The person then appears to punch the camera, damaging it. Police had previously noted the camera was broken when they responded to the property.
As a longtime follower of this case, I’ve been following the efforts to recover any lost footage from Nancy Guthrie’s home, and I just learned they’ve had some success! For the past eight days, the FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department have been working with tech experts to try and retrieve anything that might have been lost or damaged – especially after some recording devices were removed. Apparently, they didn’t just find files on the devices themselves, but were able to recover video from data still stored in the systems behind those devices. It’s a real breakthrough, and I’m hopeful it will help bring some answers.
“Working with our partners,” the note continued, “law enforcement has uncovered these previously inaccessible new images showing an armed individual appearing to have tampered with the camera at Nancy Guthrie’s front door the morning of her disappearance.”
As a dedicated follower of this case, I was relieved when, just two days after the FBI shared the video of the person going near Nancy’s house, they finally gave us a more detailed description of the suspect. It’s helpful to have something more to go on while we wait for further updates.
According to the FBI’s Phoenix office, the suspect is a man around 5’9” to 5’10” tall with an average build. He was seen in a video wearing a black ‘Ozark Trail Hiker Pack’ backpack that holds about 25 liters.
The FBI is now offering up to $100,000 – an increase from $50,000 – for information that helps find Nancy Guthrie or leads to the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance.
