‘Superman’ Just Released Its Best Theatrical Poster 7 Months Too Late

Seven months after hitting theaters, DC Studios finally shared what many consider to be its best Superman poster. It perfectly captures the film’s characters and stands out from other promotional images. James Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios and director of Superman, actively promoted the movie, and the marketing campaign included posters that both honored classic Superman artwork and highlighted each actor’s role. While the Superman posters generally used bright, optimistic colors and were quite striking, this best version wasn’t released until late in the campaign.

I was so excited to see the new official Superman poster by Jake Kontou (shared by Bottle Neck NYC)! It really captures all the main characters from the upcoming DCU movie and feels like a perfect team shot. The design is just really strong and makes you feel like everyone has an important part to play.

This new poster is different from the previous ones, which focused on a single character. Instead, it showcases the movie’s main characters and key scenes, like the romantic kiss between Clark and Lois in the air, Mr. Terrific’s flying spheres, and a cute shot of Krypto jumping. I noticed something really clever about the movie poster! They put Krypto right in the front and center – it just makes the whole image pop. But even better, they subtly showed Ultraman’s outline behind Superman. It was a huge clue about who the villain really was, and it didn’t fully make sense until the big final fight. It was a brilliant way to hint at the twist!
