If you enjoyed playing High on Life when it first came out in 2022 and are now trying the sequel, you might be curious about what became of the character Kenny.
I still remember finding Kenny in the first game – he was the very first gun that actually talked, and Justin Roiland voiced him perfectly! His special ‘Glob Shot’ was seriously helpful for solving some of those tricky puzzles, and it’s something I always think about when I remember the original game.
In 2023, the High on Life universe expanded with a downloadable content (DLC) release called High on Knife. This expansion continued the story and revealed what happened to the character Kenny.
If you’re not sure what happened there, keep on reading and we’ll explain.
Is Kenny in High on Life 2?
No, Kenny is not in High on Life 2.
Kenny doesn’t appear in this sci-fi sequel, but players can collect a total of ten weapons: nine guns and a knife.
Gus, Sweezy, and Creature are back from the original game, and Lezduit has a smaller part this time around. Unfortunately, Kenny doesn’t make an appearance.

Why isn’t Kenny in High on Life 2?
Kenny isn’t appearing because Justin Roiland, the voice actor and a key creator of High on Life, is no longer with Squanch Games, the game’s developer.
In 2020, Justin Roiland faced accusations of domestic violence, but he maintained his innocence. These allegations became public on January 12, 2023, when NBC News reported on them.
On January 16, 2023, Squanch Games announced on X (formerly Twitter) that Justin Roiland had resigned.
Squanch said their dedicated team will continue creating games their fans enjoy, and they’ll also keep updating and improving High on Life.
The charges initially filed against Roiland were dismissed in March 2023 because prosecutors didn’t have enough evidence to move forward.
Okay, so Roiland finally spoke out after that whole case was dropped. He basically said he was relieved it’s over, and always believed the accusations were totally untrue. He was confident he’d be cleared, and it sounds like he’s glad it finally happened.
“I’m still deeply shaken by the horrible lies that were reported about me during this process.
With the lawsuit finally over, I’m ready to focus on my work and rebuild my reputation.
In September 2023, Justin Roiland was accused of sexual assault and of pursuing fans, including some who were minors, according to a report by NBC News.
Roiland’s attorney, Andrew Brettler, stated that the accusations are untrue and damaging to his client’s reputation.
Justin Roiland is not currently working at Squanch Games. The sequel to High on Life is being developed without his participation, and his character, Kenny, has not been replaced with another actor.
What happened to Kenny in the canon of the game?

Canonically, the player-character dropped Kenny and lost him after the events of High on Life.
The beginning of the 2023 downloadable content, High of Knife, for the first game immediately explains why Kenny isn’t present.
A news report briefly mentioned that the main character had lost a gun.
About halfway through the downloadable content, Gene contacts you on the radio with a warning. He says he’s checking in and reminds you to be careful not to lose any more weapons. He points out you got lucky finding Harper, who is similar enough to the Gatlian species to be saved, and stresses that they are all living creatures and deserve careful handling.
After the game concluded, Knifey irritated Gene, leading him to retort with the line: “Bounty Hunter, put the knife down in the same place you left Kenny.”
If you missed the DLC, you can see all of these scenes on YouTube.
In this downloadable content, you’ll play as Harper instead of Kenny. In the next game, Harper becomes your sister’s, and you’ll be gathering weapons throughout the story – a mix of new and familiar ones, but none will be Kenny’s.
