Santa Monica Studio is working on a new, unannounced PlayStation 5 game, in addition to the recently revealed God of War Trilogy Remake, as we previously covered.
For several years, experienced director Cory Barlog has been leading the development of this game, which is designed to feel like a completely original title. Most believe it will be a new God of War adventure, but set in a different world based on a mythology like that of Ancient Egypt.
Here’s the really exciting bit, though: we could be playing it as early as 2027.
Well-known sources of leaks, Shinobi602 and Nate the Hate, have hinted at this information in several places. It’s important to remember that while these sources are usually very accurate, they’re sharing details about products that haven’t been officially announced yet, so things could still change.
Responding to a comment on ResetEra about Cory Barlog’s next game, Shinobi602 suggested a release date of 2027, noting that it could be pushed back if unforeseen issues arise. A user had initially predicted the game would come out around 2028.
Nate the Hate posted on X (formerly Twitter) that we should expect news about the project before 2027, and he believes the game will likely be released in 2027 if there aren’t any significant setbacks.
If everything stays on schedule, the PlayStation 5 could have a very successful year at the box office, with ‘Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet’ also planned for release next year.
