There are some scandals even the British royal family can’t stiff upper lip their way through.
When Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, previously known as Prince Andrew, was arrested in the UK on February 19th – his 66th birthday – due to the ongoing scandal surrounding his connections to the late Jeffrey Epstein, his older brother quickly and clearly responded.
King Charles III has expressed deep concern after learning about allegations of misconduct in public office involving Prince Andrew. In a statement to Sky News, the King said the matter will now be investigated thoroughly and fairly by the relevant authorities.
The king reiterated, as his past behavior demonstrated, that authorities would receive his complete support and cooperation. He emphasized that the legal process must be allowed to proceed without interference.
Until then, Charles summed up, “It would not be right for me to comment further on this matter.”
For years, people have been examining Andrew’s connections to Jeffrey Epstein, who was arrested in July 2019 and accused of sex trafficking minors. This scrutiny has increased recently because the Justice Department has released millions of documents related to Epstein, the disgraced financier who died by suicide while in jail shortly after his arrest.
After losing his royal titles last year, Prince Andrew was also asked to leave the Royal Lodge—the large, 30-room home he’d been living in without paying rent, aside from some updates he made in 2004. Throughout the controversy surrounding his connection to Jeffrey Epstein, he has consistently maintained his innocence.
In early February, Thames Valley Police began investigating allegations that the royal shared confidential documents with Epstein in 2010, while working as a U.K. trade envoy.
A recently released email from the Justice Department seems to show Andrew passing along a report – created by his advisor – about Prince Andrew’s trip to Southeast Asia to Jeffrey Epstein.

Thames Valley Police announced on February 19th that they had arrested a man in his 60s on suspicion of misconduct while holding public office. Though they did not release his name – a common procedure under British law – this offense could result in a life sentence in the UK.
Police have confirmed searches were carried out at two properties connected to Andrew: his former home at Royal Lodge in Windsor, Berkshire, and his new residence on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk.
Andrew hasn’t reacted to the newly released emails from the Justice Department, but he has previously discussed the scandal itself.
He withdrew from his public royal role in November 2019 following growing criticism about his ties to Epstein and a confusing interview he gave to the BBC’s Newsnight program.
He admitted that calling his relationship with Epstein a close friendship would be an exaggeration. They were friendly mainly through mutual acquaintances, and while he traveled to the US often, he didn’t spend much one-on-one time with Epstein.
As many of you know, Prince Andrew’s legal troubles began with claims about his connection to Jeffrey Epstein. But honestly, the biggest wave of public concern came from the allegations made by Virginia Roberts Giuffre. Before her tragic death in April 2025, Ms. Giuffre bravely came forward, detailing how she was trafficked by Epstein and forced to interact with many of his influential friends – including, she alleged, the Prince himself. It’s a truly heartbreaking situation, and her story was central to the entire case.
One year after Virginia Giuffre sued Prince Andrew in 2021, claiming he sexually abused her when she was a teenager, they reached a confidential financial settlement. Prince Andrew continues to deny any sexual contact with Ms. Giuffre.
Following Andrew’s arrest, his family released a statement expressing relief that justice applies to everyone, regardless of status. They thanked the police and emphasized that Andrew was not, and never had been, a prince.
It’s extremely unusual for a member of the royal family to be arrested these days. While Princess Anne, sister to King Charles and Prince Andrew, was once found guilty of an offense related to her dog biting two children in 2002, she wasn’t actually arrested for it.
The royal family has faced a lot of recent media attention, but they’ve continued to fulfill their duties. Here’s the latest news.

Prince Andrew, now known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, was arrested on February 19th, his 66th birthday, and is suspected of wrongdoing while holding a public office.
The arrest happened as questions resurfaced about Andrew’s connection to Jeffrey Epstein. Andrew maintains he has done nothing wrong.

Oh my gosh, I just saw that William and Kate finally addressed the whole Epstein thing! It was so good to see them speak up, especially with all those names being released. They sent their support to all the victims, which… honestly, it just makes me love them even more. It’s amazing they’re using their platform to support such an important cause, even when it’s connected to something so awful. I’m just so proud of them for standing with the victims!
A spokesperson for The Prince and Princess of Wales said they are very worried about the recent information that has come to light. They continue to think of those affected.

Marius Borg Høiby, the oldest son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit and stepson of Crown Prince Haakon, was arrested on February 1st for assault, threatening someone with a knife, and breaking a restraining order, according to a statement from Oslo police to the Associated Press.
The 29-year-old man, who isn’t a royal and doesn’t have any official responsibilities, will be held for up to four weeks due to concerns he might commit further crimes. An Oslo court approved the detention, and his lawyer, Petar Sekulic, said they are thinking about challenging the decision.
Høiby will appear in court on February 3rd to face charges related to four alleged rapes that occurred between 2018 and 2024, along with accusations of domestic violence and breaking a restraining order.
In a statement to the Associated Press, his lawyers said Høiby denies all accusations of sexual abuse and most of the allegations involving violence.

I was so thrilled to hear that Flora Vesterberg is expecting her first child! As a longtime admirer of the royal family, it’s lovely news. Flora is Princess Alexandra – one of the Queen’s cousins – granddaughter, and she and her husband, Timothy, are going to be parents. It’s just wonderful!
She announced on Instagram on January 19th that she and Timothy are expecting their first child, expressing their excitement and saying they are ‘over the moon’.

Prince Harry began a trial at London’s High Court on January 19th, taking on Associated Newspapers – the company behind the Daily Mail, The Mail on Sunday, and Mail Online. He alleges the media group used unethical methods to gather news.
Several other celebrities, including Elton John, Elizabeth Hurley, and Sadie Frost, are also involved in the lawsuit against the publishing company.
Associated Newspapers has “vigorously denied” the claims, according to the BBC.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle marked their tenth anniversary as a couple by releasing a sweet, black and white video showing them dancing together at home.
The couple shared a sweet video set to Olivia Dean’s song “So Easy (To Fall In Love),” and revealed it was filmed by their 4-year-old daughter, Lilibet. Meghan, who also shares 6-year-old son Archie with Harry, gave their daughter credit in the caption of the January 16th Instagram post, writing, “cred: our daughter.”
The couple also posted an old photo from when they first started dating. It showed them hugging during a trip to a beautiful outdoor location.
“When 2026 feels just like 2016….,” Meghan wrote in the caption. “You had to be there.”

Queen Sofia of Spain’s sister passed away on January 15th at the age of 83, according to an announcement from the Greek royal family’s office.
The Greek Royal Family announced with great sadness that Princess Irene passed away on Thursday, January 15th, 2026, at 11:40 AM local time. She died peacefully at Zarzuela Palace in Madrid, surrounded by her family.
The funeral for her took place on January 19th at the Metropolitan Cathedral in Athens, and she was buried at the Royal Cemetery of Tatoi.

On her 44th birthday, the Princess of Wales shared a message on the power of nature to heal.
In a recent video, Kate reflected on winter’s unique ability to bring peace and self-discovery. She described how the season’s quiet stillness allows us to slow down, look inward, and connect with both our own thoughts and the natural world around us, like seeing our reflection in a gently flowing stream.
You know, I’ve been doing a lot of thinking lately, and I’m just overwhelmed with gratitude. It’s amazing how letting go of our fears can be so freeing – almost like a cleansing river washing over you. Allowing yourself to feel everything, even the sadness, is a huge part of that. It’s in those moments, connecting with nature – and honestly, just listening to that little voice within – that I find true peace and healing. It reminds me what it truly means to be alive and connected to something bigger than myself.

Princess Catherine made her first public appearance of 2026 alongside her husband at Charing Cross Hospital in London. The visit was to show support for healthcare workers, and it happened nearly a year after she shared the news that her cancer was in remission.
