Filming has begun on Evil Dead Wrath, the latest installment in the Evil Dead series. Warner Bros. announced the news and shared a new teaser trailer, which uses classic Evil Dead imagery and sounds to create a spooky, retro feel. You can watch the teaser below.
Details are scarce about the new Evil Dead Wrath film, except that Francis Galluppi, known for his work on The Last Stop In Yuma Country, is directing. It’s likely this movie will be another standalone story, continuing the trend of recent Evil Dead installments. The franchise began with the 1981 film Evil Dead, which followed a group of friends who accidentally unleash terrifying forces after finding a mysterious book, the Necronomicon, in a remote cabin. The original trilogy then centered on Ash Williams (Bruce Campbell), one of those friends, and his battle against the undead. Ash continued his adventures in the TV series Ash vs Evil Dead, which ran for three seasons on Starz.
The 2013 Evil Dead film essentially retold the story of the 1981 original, but without the character of Ash. Then, in 2023, Evil Dead Rise introduced a completely new group of characters and shifted the setting from a forest to an apartment building. The upcoming Evil Dead Wrath will feature Charlotte Hope, Jessica McNamee, Zach Gilford, Josh Helman, Ella Newton, Elizabeth Cullen, and Ella Oliphant – a cast entirely separate from both Evil Dead Rise and the forthcoming Evil Dead Burn.
Warner Bros. Is Getting a Jump on the Next ‘Evil Dead’ Movie

Warner Bros. Pictures
It’s interesting that we’re seeing a preview for Evil Dead Wrath before we even know the plot of Evil Dead Burn, which is scheduled to release in theaters on July 24, 2026. Warner Bros. is heavily investing in the Evil Dead series, and for good reason. Evil Dead Rise was a major success, earning $147 million worldwide on a small $15 million budget, so continuing to make more films is a logical move.
The newer Evil Dead films aren’t just scary – they’re also helping launch the careers of promising horror directors. Sam Raimi, who created the original Evil Dead, has carefully chosen the directors for recent installments, and his picks have been excellent. For example, Fede Álvarez, who directed the 2013 Evil Dead remake, went on to direct Alien: Romulus in 2024. Lee Cronin, who directed Evil Dead Rise, is now working on The Mummy. Sébastien Vaniček, after a strong debut with Infested, is directing Evil Dead Burn. And after Burn comes out, Francis Galluppi will get his chance to put his own spin on the franchise with Evil Dead Wrath.
