Gonron Egg to Be Cancelled After Only Four Months

Chapter 16 of Gonron Egg begins after a three-year gap in the story. The rebel forces are battling the last of the Drakarchs after years of conflict. Gonron has achieved a powerful new form, but he and his fellow fighters are the main focus while their leaders – who haven’t had much screen time yet – confront the ultimate enemy. To add to the tension, a recent magazine announcement confirms that the manga’s final battle will begin next week.

After just 16 chapters, it seems like Gonron Egg is rushing to finish its story, likely because it’s facing cancellation. Series with poor sales numbers are usually cancelled before reaching 20 chapters, and we’ve seen this happen frequently, especially in 2025, with more potentially happening in 2026.
