Sony Goes Silent on Social Media for Over 72 Hours as Fans Turn Feral Following Bluepoint Closure

As expected, Sony hasn’t shared anything on its main social media channels in over three days since Bluepoint shut down. (Updated February 23rd, 2026, 5:30am)

Although PlayStation’s local teams, such as the one in the UK, still posted as usual over the weekend, the main PlayStation account hasn’t said anything since the news about Bluepoint Games closing down was announced.

This is probably due to the strong reaction from fans after the news broke. They angrily criticized the organization and even lashed out at unrelated games, like Marathon, which the platform holder is currently advertising before its March 5th release.

It will be interesting to see when operations restart and if the recent quiet period has eased tensions.

We expect a lot of unhappy reactions from fans when the account starts posting again, even after this short break.

Sony has stopped posting on social media after the recent upsetting news about Bluepoint Games.

Right after the news came out about the Demon’s Souls remake developer, a planned post for Marathon appeared on all of PlayStation’s social media accounts.

Okay, so the post was probably scheduled a while ago, but the timing couldn’t have been worse! It really set fans off, and the comments section just went wild – it was total chaos!

So, I saw this post about 24 hours ago, and wow, the replies are brutal. It’s racked up almost 2,000 responses on X (formerly Twitter), and honestly, not a single one is nice. People are really coming down on it!

It’s not posted on any of its accounts since.

“Dumb ass company,” one of the tamer replies reads.

“You should close down Bungie and keep Bluepoint frankly,” a common sentiment adds.

It’s a shame the Marathon team is caught up in this situation, especially since they were doing well until recently.

No matter what you think of Bungie, the closing of Bluepoint Games isn’t really their fault. The only argument you could make is that Sony’s $3 billion purchase of the studio ultimately led to this, but that seems unlikely.

Sony will likely remain silent for now. It’s expected they’ll pause all scheduled social media posts until at least Monday, hoping the situation will calm down by then.

We believe it’s good when fans share their opinions, but we’re disappointed by the amount of negativity and hostility. Unfortunately, this kind of strong reaction isn’t new for PlayStation – we’ve faced similar backlash before.
