EastEnders’ Callum Highway fears for his future after incriminating Ben Mitchell scam in BBC iPlayer release

Callum Highway (Tony Clay) could lose his job as a police officer after being discovered participating in a staged robbery.

Last week on EastEnders, Johnny Carter’s boyfriend, Chantelle Atkins, was shocked when Tim Walton, an investor connected to Johnny, requested that she do something unlawful.

A dishonest businessman was trying to find damaging information about a competing lawyer. He asked Callum to investigate the lawyer’s past, hoping to find something that could be used against him.

Callum strongly objected to the plan, explaining that he didn’t want to risk his job. He was shocked that Johnny would even ask him to lie and act as if he’d tried.

After receiving a firm “no”, Tim decided to play dirty.

Callum received a threatening message from his soon-to-be ex-husband, Ben Mitchell. Ben, who is currently in prison for fraud, warned Callum that if he didn’t get a USB drive from a specific location, Ben would face an additional ten years in jail.

Callum was completely torn over what to do, and Johnny urged him not to get involved.

Despite this, he worried about how a longer prison sentence would affect Ben’s daughter, Lexi Pierce (Isabella Brown). She’s already been through a lot, losing her mother, Lola (Danielle Harold), and with her stepfather, Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick), leaving.

He shared his problem with Ben’s mother, Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth), and his brother, Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt), and they agreed to help him look for the USB stick.

Honestly, I was really feeling for Linda Carter – Kellie Bright plays her so well! She was stressing about her son Johnny getting his heart broken, worried that Ben might stir up some old feelings. Then she ran into Tim, and he let slip he’d been secretly testing how serious Callum was about his relationship. It was a lot to take in, and I just wanted to shout at the TV, ‘Leave them alone!’

By now, Kathy was already the driver, taking Callum and Ian to a luxurious house. They broke in, but quickly realized the living room was covered by security cameras.

Ben’s request was a hoax, orchestrated by Tim!

The three of them hurried back to The Queen Vic and had to tell Johnny the truth about everything. Right behind them, Tim arrived and showed Callum the video, leaving him shocked.

How will he escape this predicament?
