Why Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 Won’t Have Huge MCU Crossovers

The creator of ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ recently explained why the show hasn’t included any cameos or connections to the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Despite fans hoping to see characters like Spider-Man appear, the Disney+ series has remained separate. The showrunner clarified that major crossovers haven’t happened and aren’t expected in the future.

Daredevil: Born Again showrunner on why there are no major crossovers

I’m really excited about the new Daredevil: Born Again series! I was reading an interview with one of the show’s writers, Dario Scardapane, and he actually admitted he’d love to see crossovers with other big MCU heroes. But, sadly, he said it probably won’t happen, even though he’s a huge Marvel comics fan. He described figuring out how to tell the story without those crossovers as a really interesting challenge, which honestly makes me even more hyped to see what they come up with!

Scardapane recognized that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is vast and that its stories are increasingly connected across both television and film. He pointed out that characters like Daredevil have already appeared in multiple shows, and that we can expect to see even more characters moving between projects, all contributing to the larger MCU narrative.

Scardapane jokingly described Born Again as a self-contained story, contrasting it with bigger, more expansive projects. He explained, “We like to say we’re ‘downtown’ while others are ‘uptown’ – we have our own little corner of Hell’s Kitchen and New York City.” He added that while the characters might occasionally venture outside of this setting, the story itself focuses on a very specific and detailed world.

So far, the Daredevil: Born Again series hasn’t included any big cameos from other Marvel Cinematic Universe heroes. However, the show has still acknowledged their existence. For example, in Episode 2, Kingpin hinted at Spider-Man while complaining about people taking the law into their own hands. And in Episode 5, Daredevil met the father of Kamala Khan, also known as Ms. Marvel, named Yusuf.

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 arrives on Disney+ on March 24, 2026.

Charlie Cox is returning as Matt Murdock, also known as Daredevil. Several original cast members from the first season will be back as well, including Vincent D’Onofrio, Margarita Levieva, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Wilson Bethel, Nikki M. James, Genneya Walton, Zabryna Guevara, Michael Gandolfini, and Ayelet Zurer. Joining them is Krysten Ritter, who will reprise her role as Jessica Jones from the previous Netflix Marvel series.
