It sounds like the Saints Row series isn’t doing too hot right now.
Chris Stockman, who led the design of the very first game, believes this marks the end for the open-world action series.
A few months ago, a Stockman revealed on the Saints Row Reddit that he’d submitted a proposal to reboot the game series. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like those plans are moving forward.
A Saints Row fan on X (formerly Twitter), @paparpg, posted an update from the game’s Discord server indicating that Embracer Group, the company that owns Saints Row, doesn’t appear to be planning any new developments.
Stockman believes the franchise is finished, and he doesn’t think Embracer Group can revive it. He expresses disappointment with the situation.
He explained that he did everything he could to propose a solution, but the company has completely ignored his idea for a prequel to the original game.
The Saints Row games have been a mixed bag, with some installments proving very popular and others falling short. Fans often look back on the first three games with fondness, but the newest Saints Row release didn’t quite connect with players.
The future of Saints Row is looking a bit unclear. Are you hoping to see more games in the series? Would you be interested in a prequel story focusing on Stockman? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
