In the upcoming phase 6, Disney+’s series titled “Eyes of Wakanda” promises to delve back into the Black Panther lore. The first antagonist for this series has been unveiled, and while fans might have to wait until phase 7 for “Black Panther 3“, they can anticipate encountering fresh heroes and villains linked to that universe in the four-episode spin-off anthology titled “Eyes of Wakanda“.
Movie director Ryan Coogler is just starting work on “Black Panther 3”, with talk of a potential release in February 2027. There are whispers that the villain for this third Marvel Cinematic Universe installment could be Achebe, who has been referred to as “the Joker to Black Panther’s Batman” by his creator, Christopher Priest.
In the most recent edition of SFX Magazine, Marvel Studios officially announced that The Lion character will take on the role of the Black Panther’s adversary within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, first appearing in Episode 1 of Disney+’s series titled “The Eyes of Wakanda.
The villain from Disney+ is portrayed as a disloyal Wakandan military leader who abandons his native land, secretly acquiring Vibranium tech and aspiring to establish his sovereign domain in the Bronze Age of the Western world around 1260 B.C., setting the stage for conflict.
In a change of scenery, an actor from the Arrowverse will switch universes to voice The Lion character in “Eyes of Wakanda”. This role is portrayed on screen by Cress Williams, who is well-known for his work as Black Lightning.
In the opening scene, the ex-Dora Milaje fighter Noni (whose voice is provided by the renowned Canadian model Winnie Harlow), embarks on a mission to capture the renegade Wakandan general. This pursuit offers her a chance to make amends for past mistakes.
In the debut episode of “Eyes of Wakanda,” titled “Into the Lion’s Den,” you’ll see the Lion making an appearance. This four-episode series will start streaming on Disney+ from August 27.
In the film “Eyes of Wakanda“, Cress Williams, Winnie Harlow will be joined by a cast that also includes Steve Toussaint, Patricia Belcher, Larry Herron, Adam Gold, along with others.
Eyes of Wakanda Could Be Game-Changing for the MCU
In a fresh twist for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), the narrative of “Wakanda Forever” is venturing backward in time specifically to enrich the franchise’s backstory. Although Marvel Studios has previously produced films set in the past, like “Captain Marvel” and “Captain America: The First Avenger,” these stories primarily served to introduce new characters from bygone eras before weaving them into contemporary plotlines.
In contrast to Disney+’s “Black Panther” spin-off consisting of just four episodes, each installment will be set in a distinct era, featuring unique heroes and villains. If executed well, this visually stunning animated series has the potential for numerous seasons, enabling Marvel Studios to delve into Wakandan history and introduce various Black Panthers.
