The creators of the popular Adult Swim show, Smiling Friends, Michael Cusack and Zach Hadel, have always indicated the show wouldn’t last indefinitely. Despite the show being renewed for two more seasons, they’ve now announced that only two additional episodes will air before the series ends. Why is Smiling Friends Ending?

According to Hadel, the decision was entirely theirs, and Adult Swim was understanding and supportive.

According to Cusack, Adult Swim told them they’re free to take a break and come back whenever they feel ready – or not at all.
