Prime Video is having a great run, and their new pirate movie is quickly becoming popular after the success of Fallout season two. The film is directed by the Russo Brothers, who are known for their work on Avengers: Doomsday, and it’s already reached the top spot on streaming charts.
I just finished watching The Bluff, the new pirate film from the Russo Brothers, and it’s a wild ride! It stars Priyanka Chopra Jonas as a woman trying to escape her past, which includes a run-in with her old, very intimidating pirate captain, played by Karl Urban. It came out on February 25th and has already shot to number one on Flix Patrol’s list of most-watched movies on Amazon Prime. Honestly, if it keeps this up, it’s a huge win for Prime Video and seems like it’s really connecting with viewers.
The Bluff Is One of The Russo Brothers’ Best Non-Marvel Films

The Russo brothers are known for directing a variety of popular projects, including the TV shows Community and Arrested Development, the film The Gray Man, and even Everything Everywhere All at Once. They’re also famous for their work with Marvel, having directed Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame. While those Marvel films are considered classics and likely rank among their best work, their recent film, The Bluff, is one of their strongest non-Marvel projects so far.
The Bluff tells the story of a family on a remote island who must fight for survival when pirates, led by the infamous Captain Connor (Karl Urban), invade. The pirates are after Connor’s stolen gold, which they believe is now held by another former pirate captain, Ercell “Bloody Mary” Bodden (Priyanka Chopra Jonas).
Bodden truly earns her reputation for being fierce, and the movie follows her desperate fight to protect her family and rescue her husband. The action is relentlessly violent and impressive, often drawing comparisons to John Wick. However, the film uniquely embraces its pirate setting, leading to incredibly imaginative fight choreography and creative kills. The confrontations between Connor and Bodden are particularly well-done, consistently surprising viewers with unexpected outcomes.
We hope the Russo Brothers create more projects like ‘The Bluff,’ even with different characters. We’d love to see more of this kind of storytelling from them in the future.
The Bluff is now available to stream on Prime Video.
