Richard Osman confirms brand new sequel novel with “lots of thrills” and when fans can expect it

Richard Osman is releasing another book in his popular ‘We Solve Murders’ series, and he’s let fans know when they can look forward to reading it.

Osman has promised that “We Chase Shadows” will be a thrilling, funny, and suspenseful story, and it’s scheduled to come out in September 2026.

I’m so excited! Richard Osman, the author behind the hugely popular Thursday Murder Club books (you might have seen the first one turned into a movie!), just announced on social media that a sequel to “We Solve Murders” is coming! It’s called “We Solve Murders 2” and I can’t wait!

I’m so excited – I just got a fantastic replica of Trouble the Cat, and I’m cuddling with it right now! Plus, Steve, Amy, and Rosie D’Antonio are all returning, which is amazing news for fans like me.

We Chase Shadows is available for pre-order now.

Coming in September 2024, “We Solve Murders” introduces Amy Wheeler, a security officer, and her father-in-law, Steve—a former police officer now working as a private investigator. Together, they investigate murders, constantly finding themselves in dangerous situations.

When the book came out, Richard Osman described it to TopMob as being a bit more of a fast-paced, airport thriller than ‘The Thursday Murder Club.’ It felt like a shift in style, a bit more action-packed, which I really enjoyed!

I was really looking for something new to dive into, and this book just clicked with me. It has that same lovely feeling, that same heart and funny moments that come from getting to know the characters. For me, it’s like traveling the world, which is amazing, but my friend Steve isn’t really into that kind of thing.

I imagined a character who’s racing against time while traveling the world, constantly worrying about finishing their task so they can make it home in time for the weekly pub quiz. It felt like a funny and relatable motivation for a fast-paced adventure.

Osman also mentioned in a separate interview with TopMob that the novel is being adapted into a television series, but he didn’t share any specifics about it.
