According to a recent report, the main characters in the upcoming Avengers: Secret Wars film will be two Marvel superheroes who haven’t teamed up on screen in a Marvel Cinematic Universe movie yet.
Every Avengers movie so far has brought back heroes who teamed up in earlier Marvel films. The next Avengers movie, Doomsday, will continue that tradition, reuniting Thor, Steve Rogers, Shuri/Black Panther, Sam Wilson/Captain America, Bucky Barnes, and the rest of the New Avengers. They’ll be joined by some new heroes as they battle Doctor Doom.
A new report from trusted source MAJESTIC_ucm suggests that the upcoming Secret Wars movie will largely focus on two characters who have each only made a single appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far. These characters will briefly meet at the very beginning of the Doomsday storyline.
Who will be the protagonists of Avengers: Secret Wars?
Details have emerged about the leaked opening of Avengers: Doomsday, suggesting a battle between Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man and Doc Ock against the X-Men from the Fox universe, ultimately leading to the destruction of Spider-Man’s world.
Rumors circulated this week claiming Spider-Man (played by Tom Holland) and Wolverine (played by Hugh Jackman) would die in the upcoming movie, supposedly with Spider-Man’s universe being destroyed. However, these claims have been disputed. According to sources, the reports of their deaths are a deliberate attempt to mislead fans – no bodies are actually shown on screen, and both characters will be important in a future installment.
MAJESTIC_ucm confirmed a report by @DivinitySeeker1, stating that Wolverine and Spider-Man are left battling just before the world ends, but are ultimately saved by the Watcher at the last moment.
According to a source, the ending of Doomsday will reveal more about how the Watcher saved Wolverine and Spider-Man, and will establish their central roles in the upcoming Secret Wars. The source claims that these two heroes are the only ones who remember what happened before, or at least, what they think they remember, making them the main characters of Secret Wars.
According to MAJESTIC_ucm, a team of around 10 to 12 heroes who remember past events will come together to fix the multiverse and free everyone from the Scarlet Witch and Doom’s control. This team will include Shang-Chi, Peggy, her son, and Shuri, among others.
MAJESTIC_ucm reported that Marvel Studios intends to make the characters from the ‘Multiverse of Madness’ the central heroes of the upcoming ‘Secret Wars’ event. This means established MCU heroes like Sam Wilson (Captain America) and Captain Marvel will not be the main focus of the crossover.
For fans who grew up watching the original X-Men and Spider-Man movies in the 2000s, seeing Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine and Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man team up in a Marvel film is a long-awaited dream come true.
The epic story arc of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, known as the Multiverse Saga, will kick off with the movie Avengers: Doomsday on December 18, 2026. The saga will then conclude with Avengers: Secret Wars on December 17, 2027.
