Ryan Gosling didn’t need a Hail Mary to get constructive feedback on his new movie.
He wasn’t alone when thinking about his new movie! Ryan Reynolds shared that his daughters, Esmeralda, 11, and Amada, 9, whom he shares with Eva Mendes, offered lots of ideas for his film, Project Hail Mary.
Ryan Reynolds shared in a February 26th interview with Access Hollywood that his children have watched several versions of his films and provide him with lots of feedback. He says they’re the only critics whose opinions really matter, and they’re always very honest with him. Reynolds, who has been with Eva Mendes since 2011, values their input above all else. In fact, his daughters were the original inspiration for him to create the sci-fi/adventure movie.
I created this project with my family in mind,” he explained. “I wanted to make a movie that we would all enjoy, and I’m incredibly grateful that I had the opportunity to do so.
Eva also had thoughts on the film, which features Ryan as a teacher who mysteriously finds himself on a space station with no memory of how he arrived. She was particularly interested in the chemistry between her longtime partner and Rocky, the CGI character. She jokingly said Rocky, voiced by James Ortiz, is the only one of Ryan’s costars she’s ever felt a little jealous of.
Okay, seriously, I was scrolling through Instagram and saw this post about the new movie coming out, and then I read the comments… and someone said it best! They were together way too much, like, constantly! And then they mentioned they even swapped rings?! I almost choked! What is happening?! It’s just… too much, you guys. I’m obsessed, but this is wild!

For Ryan, his leading lady’s concerns about his bond with Rocky aren’t that far out.
Ryan explained to Access Hollywood that he believes she’s jealous because she also has feelings for him. He said she recognizes how charming he is and how much people adore him, especially fans of the book who are very passionate about how the story was told. He felt the adaptation was handled beautifully.
He shared his excitement for everyone to meet Rocky, adding that having him in their lives will be a joy, just as it has been for the past five years.
Ryan was thinking about Eva when he recently shared news about his movie, Project Hail Mary. In a promotional clip featuring a mock game of Jeopardy!, host Ken Jennings asked Ryan and the other players a Final Jeopardy clue: “This type of injury has been in the news since 1967, when it happened to Red Sox player Jim Lonborg.”
After a contestant correctly answered “ACL,” the Barbie star revealed his answer board, which playfully read, “What is… IDK?” He also gave a friendly shout-out to Eva, writing, “I [heart] Eva.”
