New Pokemon Legends: Z-A Mystery Gift Lets Players Catch Previously Unreleased Mega

The Pokemon Company held a quick Pokemon Presents presentation for Pokemon Day 2026, showcasing upcoming games. While they did reveal information about the next generation (Gen 10), the presentation mostly focused on games already announced. Many fans hoped to see new DLC for Pokemon Legends: Z-A, but instead, the focus was on the existing Mega Dimension DLC. A new Mystery Gift became available on February 27th, allowing players to unlock a previously unreleased Mega Evolution within the game.

The recent DLC, Mega Dimension, introduced several new Mega Evolutions, but the Mega Stone for Mega Garchomp Z wasn’t available at first. Now, a new Mystery Gift will allow trainers to finally obtain the Mega Stone needed to add Mega Garchomp Z to their team in Pokemon Legends: Z-A. Similar to previous gifts in Legends: Z-A, you don’t need a code – just connect to the internet to claim it. Here are all the details.

How to Get Mega Garchomp Z with Pokemon Legends: Z-A Mystery Gift

The latest trailer for Pokemon Legends: Z-A highlighted the new Megas, including content from the previously released Mega Dimension. Game Freak also announced a new Mystery Gift: Mega Garchomp Z. This powerful form, which was teased before but never obtainable in the game, is now available. It’s a pure Dragon-type Pokemon with larger, scythe-like wings, differentiating it from the standard Mega Garchomp.

You can see Mega Garchomp Z in detail towards the end of the Pokémon Day trailer for Mega Dimension, which you can find below.

Trainers can now Mega Evolve their Garchomp into Mega Garchomp Z by getting a Garchompite Z stone. This item will be distributed through the Mystery Gift feature, just like previous Legendary and Mega Evolution releases such as Mega Diancie and Mewtwo.

To start, go to the Mystery Gift feature in Pokemon Legends: Z-A. Once you’ve claimed your gift online, a new Side Mission will become available. This mission will take you to a battle against Mega Garchomp Z in the Hyperspace Dimension. If you win, you’ll unlock the ability to Mega Evolve your own Mega Garchomp Z.

The trailer also highlighted previously released Mystery Gifts, like the Diancie and MewTwo X & Y side missions that players can still claim. Since this was the main announcement, combined with the upcoming release of Pokemon Pokopia, it appears Game Freak may be shifting its attention away from Pokemon Legends: Z-A. We might see more Mystery Gifts in the future, but substantial new downloadable content seems less and less likely at this point.
