PS5 players are incredibly impressed with a new $40 game available on the PlayStation Store. What’s even better is that you can try it out for free with a demo also available on the store. While 2026 has been a relatively quiet year for games so far, there have been some standout titles on PS5. Resident Evil Requiem is a major release, but it costs $70 and doesn’t offer a free trial. However, the second-best horror game of the year does have a demo.
Praised by critics and players alike – boasting a 4.5-star rating on the PlayStation Store and a score of 80 on Metacritic – Reanimal is Tarsier Studios’ new survival-horror platformer with stealth gameplay. This release marks a new chapter for the studio, following their work on the Little Nightmares series, which they created and developed the first two installments of with Bandai Namco. The most recent Little Nightmares game, released without Tarsier Studios’ involvement, didn’t perform well. Thankfully, Reanimal is a success, building on the atmosphere and style of its predecessors.
“Reanimal Is Incredible”
A popular post on the PS5 Reddit page is currently praising a new horror game. Users are calling it “incredible” and “the perfect co-op experience,” with many describing it as genuinely creepy. One player was particularly impressed, saying it surpassed the studio’s previous games and reached the level of critically acclaimed cinematic platformers like Inside.
The post’s popularity clearly shows how people feel, and the comments reflect that too, with many calling it a wonderful and fantastic experience.
Some players feel the $40 price tag is a bit high for a game that can be completed in around five hours. If that’s you, it might be best to wait for a sale. Eventually, a complete edition including all three planned DLC releases (coming over the next year or so) will likely be available. Currently, the game costs about $8 per hour of playtime, which is reasonable for entertainment, but a little pricey for a video game. However, user reviews generally indicate the game is worth the cost.
