Jujutsu Kaisen Creator Returns With New Look At The Most Powerful Characters

Please be aware that this article contains spoilers from the Jujutsu Kaisen manga. 2026 promises to be a great year for fans of Jujutsu Kaisen with the return of Season 3 of the anime! This season will be released in two parts and will cover the Culling Game Arc, a dangerous battle royale forced upon sorcerers by Kenjaku. As Season 3 gains popularity, the sequel manga, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, has also been a pleasant surprise. Released last September as a short continuation of the story, it was planned to release new chapters weekly for about six months. The final chapters are coming soon, and while Gege Akutami is writing the story, Yuji Iwasaki is handling the artwork.

The official social media account for Jujutsu Kaisen recently posted a beautiful new illustration of Satoru Gojo and Ryomen Sukuna, created by the manga’s author, Akutami. This artwork celebrates the upcoming release of the manga’s second volume on March 4th, 2026. While the cover art is done by Iwasaki, Akutami created the illustration for the back of the volume. Currently, the manga is only available in Japan, and it will take Viz Media several months to translate and release it for fans worldwide.

Jujutsu Kaisen’s Battle of The Strongest Is Still The Best in The Franchise

As the sequel manga nears its end, no fight has generated as much excitement as the clash between the two strongest characters. The artist, Akutami, has released a striking image showing what the characters look like during this intense battle. Gojo is depicted in his signature traditional attire, performing a hand sign that hints at his powerful technique, Infinity. Meanwhile, Sukuna isn’t in his usual form—he’s possessing Megumi Fushiguro’s body during the fight.

Sukuna didn’t show his real body until after Gojo died, meaning the entire fight between them happened while he looked like Megumi. Gojo had been imprisoned during the Shibuya Incident and wasn’t released until the end of the Culling Game. Immediately after his release, Sukuna challenged Gojo, starting their legendary battle. Though Gojo was considered the strongest sorcerer of his time, Sukuna hadn’t faced a true rival in over a thousand years.

Despite lasting only 15 chapters, the fight between Gojo and Sukuna completely captivated fans while it was happening. Though Gojo’s death was shocking and violent, this battle was more popular than any other recent fight in a popular manga series. It occurred during the manga’s final arc, and was the first time Gojo and Sukuna truly unleashed their full power against each other.
