Report: Avengers: Secret Wars Will Avoid Major ‘Endgame’ Error

The upcoming movie, Avengers: Secret Wars, appears to be learning from a mistake made during the production of Avengers: Endgame. The directors of Endgame have previously expressed regret about the film’s demanding schedule, and Secret Wars is aiming to avoid a similar issue. Currently slated for release in 2027, Secret Wars will reportedly use a five-month filming schedule – a strategy similar to the planned approach for the movie Doomsday, which comes out in December 2026. This is a significant improvement over the production of Endgame, and recent news suggests the plan is even more refined.

According to entertainment industry source Daniel Richtman, filming for Avengers: Secret Wars is scheduled to start in August. This is a more carefully planned approach than the hurried production of Avengers: Endgame in 2018, which was a major issue at the time.

The current production schedule allows the Russo Brothers and Marvel Studios ample time to finish any necessary reshoots for Avengers: Doomsday and complete most of the post-production work, all before starting to film Secret Wars.

Filming on Avengers: Doomsday finished with the main cast and crew in September 2025, but some additional shooting is planned. David Harbour, who plays Red Guardian, recently stated that the production will be returning to London shortly to film these extra scenes.

I remember reading that the Russo brothers, who directed the last two Avengers movies, felt really stressed about filming Infinity War and Endgame right after each other. They said they only had about three weeks between wrapping up one film and starting the next, and they later admitted that was a big mistake they wished they could have avoided.

“We wouldn’t shoot them back-to-back.”

The quick turnaround didn’t allow the team enough time to fully prepare for Endgame. Although the film was a hit with fans and financially successful, a bit more time for the filmmakers, actors, and crew to refine the script and reflect on their work could have made it even better.

This new report should ease worries that Secret Wars is being made too quickly. It will receive the same careful attention and development as Doomsday.

We don’t have many details about the story of Avengers: Secret Wars yet, but it’s likely to deal with the major consequences and events that happen in Doomsday.

Avengers: Secret Wars is scheduled to release in theaters on December 17, 2027.

Why Secret Wars’ Reassuring Filming Update Is More Important Than You Think

Marvel’s decision to carefully plan the production of Avengers: Secret Wars is smart. It gives the Russo Brothers extra time to perfect the post-production of Avengers: Doomsday and handle any problems that might come up during the process.

Marvel is carefully building up its next two Avengers films, focusing on quality. This is good news, especially since the new Multiverse Saga is even more ambitious than the previous Infinity Saga.

With both Doomsday and Secret Wars featuring a large number of characters – Doomsday currently has 61 actors confirmed or rumored to appear – Marvel Studios is wisely spacing out the releases of these two complex films.

As a huge MCU fan, I’m really hoping Secret Wars will be a major turning point for the franchise – a proper reset, if you will. And honestly, I think it’s smart to have the Russo Brothers come in fresh for this one, focusing on building a solid creative vision without getting bogged down in all the behind-the-scenes issues that surrounded Doomsday. They need a clear headspace to do this movie justice.

This would also give Marvel Studios a chance to learn from previous issues with the Doomsday storyline, properly prepare for Secret Wars, and make sure it’s excellent – all crucial as they begin a new era focused on The Mutant Saga.
