The adventure game Mixtape is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, and PC (via Steam and the Microsoft Store) on May 7th. Annapurna Interactive and Beethoven & Dinosaur, the game’s publisher and developer, just announced that a version for the Switch 2 is also being released.
Here is an overview of the game, via Annapurna Interactive:
Okay, so this game? It’s about three friends on their last night of high school, and they decide to go on one last big adventure together. It’s really cool because the whole thing feels like a mixtape – you experience memories through the story, and the music is amazing – it totally captures the vibe of our generation. It’s a really nostalgic and emotional ride.
As they drive to one last party, a carefully chosen playlist unlocks vivid memories of their youth. The game lets you relive key moments in their friendship, like first kisses and final dances, through a series of connected stories. You’ll experience the thrill of being a teenager with fun, diverse gameplay – skateboarding, flying, exploring an abandoned theme park, playing baseball, and even setting off fireworks from a car. It’s a nostalgic journey packed with the highlights of growing up and the bonds of friendship.
The creators of the BAFTA-winning game The Artful Escape, Beethoven & Dinosaur, have developed Mixtape, a game inspired by classic coming-of-age films. It captures the feeling of being a teenager – the carefree fun, the awkwardness, the music, and the mix of emotions that come with growing up and moving on to new things.
The soundtrack includes iconic music from bands like DEVO, Roxy Music, Lush, The Smashing Pumpkins, Iggy Pop, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Joy Division, and a wide range of other artists.
