For months, fans of Dungeons & Dragons have been eagerly awaiting news about what Wizards of the Coast has planned for 2026. Typically, this information is released earlier in the year, so the delay had many wondering what was happening. Considering the recent changes to the D&D team, the wait wasn’t entirely unexpected. Now, Wizards of the Coast has finally revealed the 2026 roadmap, and like last year, it includes significant updates. Many believe these changes could be a positive move for the fifth edition of the game.
On March 3rd, Wizards of the Coast shared their plans for Dungeons & Dragons through 2026. Along with details about upcoming releases this year, Senior Vice President Dan Ayoub announced a new system called “Seasons” to organize future D&D content. While the new system doesn’t fully launch until June 2026 with a return to the classic Ravenloft setting, the rest of the year looks exciting, with three unique content releases planned. Let’s take a closer look at what’s coming for D&D in 2026.
Dungeons & Dragons Kicks Off Season of Horror with New Ravenloft Sourcebook & More

New Dungeons & Dragons sourcebooks and products will be released in three phases, called “Seasons.” The first, the “Season of Horror,” focusing on the Ravenloft setting, will launch in June 2026. Next, the “Season of Magic,” with new materials centered around arcane magic, will arrive in September 2026. Finally, the “Season of Champions” will begin in October 2026, with details about its products coming later.
I’m a huge fan of the Ravenloft setting and magic-users, so I’m really looking forward to what’s coming for Dungeons & Dragons. While we don’t know all the details yet, 2026 looks like it will bring back some of the classic stories and gameplay that made people love D&D in the first place. Let’s explore the major releases planned for the first two seasons of the game this year.
Ravenloft: The Horrors Within Sourcebook

Man, can you believe Curse of Strahd is turning 10? It’s still one of my all-time favorite D&D 5e adventures. To celebrate, they’re releasing a new sourcebook that lets us head back to Ravenloft! It’s packed with cool new character options – like horror-themed subclasses – and tons of extra stuff to make the Ravenloft campaign setting even richer and more detailed. I’m super excited!
I’m really excited about this new release! It sounds like it’s going to be a fantastic resource for Dungeon Masters who want to run a horror campaign. It’s basically a guide filled with tools and ideas, and it covers all sorts of horror – everything from classic gothic scares to the really mind-bending cosmic horror stuff. It’s coming out on June 16th and will cost around $60. The best part? If you’re a D&D Beyond subscriber at the Master or Hero level, you’ll get it a little early!
Season of Horror Accessory & Companion Products
The main sourcebook for the Season of Horror, The Horrors Within, is being released, but players have even more spooky content to look forward to this summer. More Ravenloft products are planned for June 2026, including:
- Tarokka Deck – 60-card Tarot-style deck, compatible with The Horrors Within
- The Horrors Within DM Screen – Screen featuring Ravenloft artwork
- The Horrors Within Map Pack– Five double-sided poster maps and 2 token sheets for the Ravenloft setting
We don’t have exact release dates for these products yet, but they’re scheduled to launch in June. Each item will cost $24.99.
Arcana Unleashed Source Book

The Season of Magic begins with the release of the new Arcana Unleashed sourcebook, which is being described as a complete guide for fans of magic in D&D. It will offer more ways to create magic-focused characters and introduce a new system for magical items. While the exact date isn’t set, it’s anticipated to be available in September 2026 and will cost $49.99.
Arcana Unleashed: Deadfall Adventure Expansion
Great news, adventurers! A brand new official Dungeons & Dragons adventure book, titled Deadfall, is coming this year. It sends players back to the dangerous land of Thay, right in the middle of a full-scale war between wizards. You can expect it to be available in September 2026 for $29.99.
New D&D Reference Card Decks
Alongside the new magical books, the Season of Magic will also feature updated card decks for the 2024 5e rules. These decks will cover spells, magic items, and monsters, and are scheduled for release in August 2026. The price hasn’t been announced yet.
The “Season of Champions” will continue through December 2026, taking place each year from October to December. Wizards of the Coast hasn’t announced all the details yet, leaving some surprises in store for Dungeons & Dragons fans this year. Overall, it seems like a strong set of content and a new approach to how they release it.
