Marvel Studios might be trying a new strategy for promoting the upcoming Avengers: Secret Wars movie, potentially revealing a first glimpse much sooner than fans anticipate.
The first trailers for the movie Avengers: Doomsday premiered in theaters with showings of Avatar: Fire and Ash before being published online between December 23, 2025, and January 13, 2026. Marvel Studios is planning a similar strategy for the upcoming Secret Wars movie, but fans may need to wait a few weeks after Doomsday is released or buy another movie ticket to see them.
When will MCU fans see the first footage from Avengers: Secret Wars?
A source on X, known as Divinity Seeker, claims the first glimpse of the upcoming Avengers: Secret Wars movie will be shown after the credits of IMAX showings of Avengers: Doomsday in January. However, they also noted that these plans aren’t confirmed and Marvel could choose a different marketing strategy.
If this occurs, one observer noted that it would be the first time a preview like this has been shown in theaters after a movie’s release, typically happening two to three weeks into its run.
The delayed sneak peek of Secret Wars is because its release date was moved. Originally planned for May 1, 2026, it’s now coming out on December 18, 2026 – the same day as Dune: Part Three. Because Dune: Part Three was scheduled for that date first, it had already reserved all the IMAX screens in the U.S. for its opening weekend.
Initially, the movie ‘Doomsday’ will only be shown in IMAX theaters in a few countries when it’s first released. It will then expand to regular movie theaters across the U.S. after the exclusive run of ‘Dune: Part Three’ ends – likely in a week or two. This timing potentially coincides with reports suggesting a preview of ‘Secret Wars’ will be released in January 2027.
Filming for Avengers: Secret Wars is scheduled to start soon, with the movie expected to hit theaters on December 17, 2027. The Russo brothers, Joe and Anthony, are directing what’s believed to be the last movie in the Multiverse Saga.
