So, I just heard some really disappointing news about Highguard. It turns out the game is shutting down on March 12th – that’s only 45 days after it even came out! Wildlight Entertainment, the developers, announced it, and honestly, it’s a bummer because I was actually starting to get into it.
The game Highguard became available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC through Steam on January 26th. Then, on February 11th, Wildlight Entertainment announced they had reduced their staff, keeping only a small team to continue supporting the game.
Here is the full message from Wildlight Entertainment on the game’s closure:
We have some tough news to share. We’ve decided to close Highguard permanently on March 12th.
Since we launched Highguard, over two million players have joined the game. We truly appreciate all the feedback, creations, and support you’ve given us – it means a lot that you believed in our vision.
We’re sad to announce that, despite everyone’s hard work and dedication, we haven’t been able to maintain a large enough player community to keep the game running long-term. The servers will be online until March 12th. We’d love for you to join us for one last time to enjoy some final matches and show your support before then.
We’re thrilled to announce one last update for the game! It includes a new playable character called the Warden, a brand-new weapon, and a system for leveling up your account and unlocking skills. We’ll share the complete list of changes soon, and expect the update to be available either tonight or tomorrow morning.
All of us at Wildlight want to thank you for playing, for your support, and for being a part of the Highguard story.
