Most people didn’t anticipate a simple port of Death Stranding 2: On The Beach to PC, considering the advanced technology included with the first game’s PC release. However, the PC version of Death Stranding 2 will likely be the most technically impressive way to play Hideo Kojima’s ambitious sequel. If you’re curious about this unique game, get ready to explore! Here are fifteen things you should know – including details on the latest graphics technology, prices, and pre-order perks – before purchasing the PC version of Death Stranding 2: On The Beach.
Standalone Sequel That Continues the Social Strand System
Many consider Death Stranding 2: On The Beach to be the latest triumph from creator Hideo Kojima – we certainly did, giving the PS5 version a perfect score! This game is a direct sequel to Death Stranding, the unique post-apocalyptic delivery simulator. While the two games share a similar style, Death Stranding 2 is designed to be enjoyable even if you haven’t played the first one (though knowing the game’s unusual terms – like chiralium, BTs, timefall, and DOOMs – might be helpful). The core of the sequel remains the Social Strand system, an online feature that lets players indirectly help each other by leaving behind structures, tools, and pathways.
Character-Driven Narrative That Pushes the Series’ Themes
Death Stranding 2 continues Hideo Kojima’s tradition of telling character-focused stories that combine stunning science fiction with thought-provoking ideas. Norman Reedus reprises his role as Sam Porter Bridges, and he’ll be joined by both new and familiar characters. This time, the journey to rebuild connections between isolated colonies takes place primarily in Australia and Mexico. The game promises a deep and meaningful story exploring the effects of isolation and the importance of human connection, especially in a world recovering from a pandemic.
Refined Combat, Stealth, and Traversal
The core of the game remains focused on moving around, managing cargo, and making deliveries, but the new version adds more depth to combat and sneaking. Players now have more strategic choices thanks to a wider range of gadgets and equipment, encouraging different ways to play. However, getting around is still the most important part of the experience – it’s very physical, and you need to think carefully about every move. Planning routes, managing your weight, and dealing with the environment are even more critical than before.
NVIDIA, AMD, and Intel Upscaling Support with Frame Regeneration
The PC version of Death Stranding 2 offers several advanced graphics features to boost performance without sacrificing visual quality. It supports NVIDIA DLSS 4, AMD FSR 4, and Intel XeSS 2 technologies, allowing players with compatible graphics cards to enjoy the game’s detailed environments at high fidelity. Additionally, a feature called Pico – developed by Guerilla Games (of Horizon fame) – further enhances image quality and works with all supported graphics cards, even when combined with frame regeneration technologies. Players can also use these graphics enhancements alongside Dynamic Resolution Scaling for a customized visual experience.
Native 4K and Ultrawide Support
You can play the game in stunning native 4K resolution, and it supports a wide range of displays, including ultrawide monitors. It even works with super ultrawide 32:9 screens during gameplay and standard ultrawide 21:9 for cutscenes. If you don’t have an ultrawide monitor, you can still enjoy a wider view on a high-resolution 16:9 screen through the game’s settings. The game’s beautiful scenery and cinematic style really shine with wider aspect ratios. While a 21:9 ultrawide update is coming to PlayStation 5 at the same time as the PC version, PC still offers the most immersive experience of this detailed game world.
Extensive Graphic Settings Include Uncapped Framerates

The PC version includes detailed graphics options, letting you customize how the game looks – from things like shadows and water effects to weather like rain and fog. If your computer and monitor can handle it, you can also unlock the framerate for even smoother gameplay.
DualSense Controller Integration
Okay, so I’m playing Death Stranding 2 on PC with my PS5 DualSense controller, and it’s seriously awesome. The haptic feedback really pulls you in – I can feel the impact of every fight right in my hands. Plus, the adaptive triggers make a huge difference when I’m carrying stuff; I can actually feel the weight shifting and the resistance when I’m walking on rough terrain. It’s not just visuals, the controller adds a whole new level of immersion, even with things like the weather!
Full Keyboard and Mouse Customisation
For those who prefer using a mouse and keyboard, Death Stranding 2 fully supports PC controls and offers plenty of options to customize the keybindings. Players of the first Death Stranding generally found the default controls to be good, so we expect similar performance in the sequel. This means customizing the controls will likely be a helpful addition, but not something most players will need to do.
Advanced 3D Audio Support
When it comes to truly immersive gaming, sound is key in Death Stranding 2 on PC. It fully supports advanced 3D audio technologies like Dolby Atmos (through Dolby Access), DTS Sound Unbound, and Windows Sonic for Headphones. Using compatible headphones or speakers, you’ll experience incredibly realistic surround sound, with sounds coming from all directions and heights. This makes exploring the game world even more believable, and helps you pinpoint crucial details – like rain on rooftops or approaching enemies – giving you a tactical advantage whether you’re trying to sneak past danger or plan a silent attack.
New Modes and Features are Coming

Okay, so Kojima Productions just announced that the PC version of Death Stranding 2 is getting a bunch of cool stuff – new game modes, challenges, rewards, and features. They haven’t spilled all the details yet, but if the Director’s Cut of the first game is anything to go by, we’re probably looking at some really solid gameplay improvements and useful tools, not just a bunch of skins. I’m really hoping for some quality-of-life stuff that makes the experience even better!
Connecting PSN Account Unlocks Exclusive Bonuses
Connecting your PlayStation account to Death Stranding 2 on PC isn’t required, but it does offer some benefits. You’ll get access to the PlayStation overlay, be able to earn trophies, and see your profile, settings, and friends list. Plus, you can unlock exclusive in-game items like unique patches, backpack designs, and a special suit inspired by the PlayStation logo.
Pre-Order Bonuses
If you pre-order Death Stranding 2: On The Beach for PC, you’ll receive some in-game perks: a Quokka hologram you can unlock early, and silver versions of the Battle, Boost, and Bokka Skeletons, all upgraded to level three. Just so you know, holograms are purely cosmetic items for customizing your structures, and skeletons are mechanical leg frames that boost Sam’s abilities – they’ll be particularly helpful when navigating difficult landscapes.
Release Date, Price, and PC Requirements

The PC version of Death Stranding 2: On The Beach comes out on March 19th. The Standard Edition will cost £69.99 or $69.99. A Digital Deluxe Edition will also be available for purchase on Steam and the Epic Games Store, and we’ll share more details about that version shortly.
To run the game at its lowest settings with decent performance (1080p resolution at 30 frames per second), you’ll need at least an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 or AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT with 8GB of video memory, an Intel Core i3-10100 or AMD Ryzen 3 3100 processor, and 16GB of RAM. Regardless of whether you’re using medium, high, or very high graphics settings, the game requires 16GB of RAM.
To get a smooth gaming experience, we recommend at least an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 or AMD Radeon RX 6800 graphics card, paired with an Intel Core i7-11700 or AMD Ryzen 7 5700X processor. With these specs, you should be able to play at 1440p resolution with around 60 frames per second. For 4K gaming at the same framerate, you’ll need a more powerful graphics card like an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 or AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT. You’ll also need at least 150GB of free space on a solid state drive (SSD).
Digital Deluxe Edition Content
A Digital Deluxe Edition is also offered, which includes special in-game cosmetic items like patches, gold-colored character skeletons, and an early unlock for a machine gun. It’s priced at £79.99 or $79.99.
The Definitive Version – Content Updates Also Coming to PS5
This isn’t Death Stranding 2: Director’s Cut – that hasn’t been officially announced, but it will probably follow a similar release pattern as the original Death Stranding. However, the upcoming release on PC will be the best and most complete way to play the game. Its advanced graphics settings and support for ultrawide monitors make it stand out, and PlayStation 5 owners won’t miss out – all the planned downloadable content will also be available for PS5, in addition to being included in the PC version.
