**Warning: Spoilers for Scream 7 ahead.**
Sidney Prescott consistently finds herself in terrifying situations, repeatedly crossing paths with Ghostface killers – and it looks like Scream 7 will be no different.
This Ghostface is different. Instead of making threatening phone calls, this killer is tormenting the survivor by using the memories of those she’s outlived over the past twenty years.
Sidney, now a wife and mother of three who owns a coffee shop, is prepared to face a new threat. However, she didn’t expect the killer to target her teenage daughter, Tatum (Isabel May), or that the killer would turn out to be Stu Macher (Matthew Lillard)—one of the original Ghostfaces who started her twenty-year struggle with dangerous criminals.
Okay, so things are really heating up! Sidney’s getting ready for a final confrontation, and it’s awesome because Gale is back – even though their friendship is always a little complicated! Plus, Mindy and Chad, who totally survived the Ghostface attacks in New York, are now working with her. It feels like everyone who matters is finally together to take on this new threat.
But who makes it out alive, and who was behind it all? Here’s everything you need to know.
Scream 7 ending explained: How many people die?

As you’d expect from a slasher film, people die, and by the end of this movie, nine characters have been killed.
The movie immediately introduces Scott (Jimmy Tatro) and Madison (Michelle Randolph), but they don’t last long. They rented the house where Stu Macher’s parents lived in the first Scream movie, and which later became a creepy memorial to the murders, having been used as a location in Scream 5 by killer Amber (Mikey Madison).
Hannah, played by Mckenna Grace and a friend of Tatum’s, was the next to die. Her death happened dramatically in the school auditorium while she was practicing for the school play.
Gale Weathers unexpectedly kills one of the Ghostface attackers by running him over with her car as he flees Sidney’s house after trying to harm Sidney, her husband Mark, and Tatum.
The attacker is revealed to be Karl Gibbs (played by Kraig Drake), a patient who escaped from Fallbrook Psychiatric Hospital. He doesn’t seem to have any connection to Sidney, leaving her and Gale puzzled and leading them to believe he was hired by someone else.
At the hospital, the group gets help from an orderly named Marco (Ethan Embry). They notice a patient listed as “John Doe” who bears a striking resemblance to Stu Macher.
Shortly after, three more people are killed during a brutal bar fight involving Ghostface and Tatum’s friends. Mindy and Chad had been explaining how the killer operates just before the power goes out.
During the chaos, Chloe (Celeste O’Connor) is attacked in the bar’s kitchen and suffers a fatal wound to her throat from broken glass. Lucas (Asa Germann), the son of a neighbor, is tragically impaled by a beer tap after being stabbed. Mindy is slashed in the stomach but manages to survive, and Chad is also wounded when Chloe stabs him in the shoulder while trying to defend herself.
Tatum believes her boyfriend, Ben (Sam Rechner), might be the killer because the murders remind her of a past tragedy – her mother’s teenage boyfriend, Billy Loomis, was also a killer. Her suspicions grow when she finds out he’s been creating deepfake videos of Stu, the same kind of technology the current killer seems to be using.
Sadly, despite managing to knock him unconscious, she realized she’d made a mistake. Before she could even apologize, Ben was fatally stabbed by the actual Ghostface, who was pursuing them.
With a series of deaths behind them, the story comes down to a final confrontation, as Sidney returns home to unmask and confront the killers, finally learning why they’re targeting her.
Who was Ghostface in Scream 7?

Sidney has been tormented by realistic AI-generated videos featuring people from her past, like previous Ghostface killers Stu, Mrs. Loomis, and Roman. Now, she’s determined to uncover the true identity of the person behind the latest attacks.
It’s been revealed there are actually three Ghostface killers, but the first one, Karl Gibbs, has already been caught.
Marco was the second person involved, an orderly who worked at Fallbrook Psychiatric Hospital. He’s the one who made the incredibly realistic AI videos. He also claims Tatum almost killed him, though she didn’t aim for his head.
He wasn’t acting alone, and wasn’t even motivated by his own desires. When he asks “Stu” for help, it’s revealed that the primary Ghostface is actually his neighbor, Jessica. She’s also brought Sidney’s badly injured husband, Mark, along with her.
Jessica had been a devoted fan of Sidney for years, perhaps even to an extreme degree. After reading Sidney’s memoir, Out of Darkness, she was driven to kill her husband, hoping to improve her own life. This led to her being admitted to Fallbrook Psychiatric Hospital, where she befriended Marco and Karl.
Okay, so Jessica was not thrilled. Her ultimate scream queen, the one she really looked up to, just… disappeared. Traded in battling masked killers for minivan life in Pine Grove, Indiana. Apparently, she’s married with three kids, which, good for her, but two of them are conveniently at grandma and grandpa’s right now. It’s a big shift, and honestly, Jessica’s taking it pretty hard. It feels like a betrayal, almost, to see a Final Girl just… settle down.

Okay, so I’m trying to get to this cool movie info, but it looks like I need to prove I’m not a robot first. After the killings in New York (as seen in Scream 6) didn’t lure Sidney out of her quiet life, Jessica came up with a scheme to force a confrontation. She and two accomplices planned their own series of Ghostface murders – even including a second killer like Stu – with the ultimate goal of killing Sidney in front of Tatum, and passing on the legacy of being the ‘Final Girl’ to Tatum.
Things looked grim with Tatum and Mark both held at knifepoint. However, this was Sidney’s family, and they were used to dealing with dangerous people. Mark managed to untie Tatum, who then fought back against her attacker and ran away. The distraction gave Sidney the opportunity to shoot and kill Marco, making sure he was no longer a threat.
Sidney pursues Jessica, and a violent struggle ensues. During the fight, Jessica, revealed to be the ruthless “Mama Bear,” repeatedly stabs her neighbor – the one responsible for orchestrating the death of her own son. Tatum shoots at her, but doesn’t deliver a fatal blow. When Jessica recovers, Sidney and Tatum finally kill her with a barrage of gunfire.
Who survives Scream 7?

Sidney and Gale have survived another encounter with Ghostface, escaping with their lives. This time around, Tatum also made it out alive.
Even though Chad and Mindy were seriously hurt, they both survived the latest Ghostface attacks – marking the third time they’ve escaped a killing spree. As a special moment, Gale lets Mindy report on the events herself, giving her the chance to deliver her first-ever news report.
Mark survived, but was seriously injured and needed to go to the hospital. Now that the family was safe, Sidney and Tatum went to be with him.
Scream 7 is available to watch in cinemas now.
