The upcoming Peaky Blinders movie, The Immortal Man, will bring back many beloved actors from the TV series. It will also introduce some exciting new cast members, including Barry Keoghan playing Tommy Shelby’s son, Duke, and Tim Roth as a new villain named Beckett.
Rebecca Ferguson, known for her roles in Dune and Mission: Impossible, is a thrilling addition to the cast. She’ll be playing Kaulo, a mysterious character who has a significant encounter with Cillian Murphy’s character, Tommy.
Honestly, the studio has been tight-lipped about this new character, but the latest trailer gave us a tantalizing glimpse. She delivers this really chilling warning to Tommy, and it’s clear she’s got him figured out – knows his weaknesses, his past… everything. It definitely sets her up as someone to watch, and I’m already intrigued by what her deal is.

Director Tom Harper shared with TopMob at the Birmingham premiere on March 2nd that he particularly enjoyed exploring the connection between the characters Tommy and Kaulo while making the film.
He was asked what he was most excited to direct and what relationships he wanted to explore, and he immediately talked about Rebecca. He really loves what she brings to the project, especially how she challenges Tommy – they really go head-to-head, and it’s fantastic to watch.
“She is able to… she’s like a harbinger,” he added. “She brings all sorts of complicated things.”
That’s definitely interesting, and viewers might guess that Ferguson’s character will be connected to Murphy’s recent statement about Tommy exploring more mystical and unconventional powers than we’ve seen before.
You know, when talking about how he created the character of Aunt Polly, he recently told Edith Bowman at a BFI event that that really captured the world she lived in – it felt so real to him.
He explained that while he used to understand and accept those ideas, as he’s aged, he now believes true meaning and vitality aren’t found in progress or science, but rather in something deeper and more fundamental.
Last year, Ferguson discussed potentially joining the film with TopMob, mentioning she’d wanted to collaborate with Murphy for quite some time, and this project seemed like the perfect chance.
We share the same representative, so I kept checking in – asking for updates and what the next steps were. When this opportunity arose, it was an easy decision for me.
She shared that joining such a popular series was both exciting and a little daunting. ‘It’s great to step into a world that’s already so established and has such a dedicated fanbase,’ she explained. ‘It’s a huge film, so it was a real honour they trusted me with the role.’
Director Harper is coming back to the Peaky Blinders universe after a break of over ten years. He previously directed three episodes of the show’s first season in 2013.
He explained that coming back felt both familiar and new. A big reason he decided to return was how much he enjoyed working with people like Steve and Cillian, as well as the entire production team, when he’d worked on it previously.
Honestly, when we first made it, we had a feeling it was something good, something with real heart in the performances and the story. But none of us could have predicted the incredible response it’s gotten! To see it now, being prepared for a full cinematic release – something we always dreamed of – is just amazing. It feels like all that initial passion is finally coming to fruition.
The new Peaky Blinders movie, ‘The Immortal Man’, hits cinemas on March 6th. You can then watch it on Netflix starting March 20th, with subscriptions available from £5.99 per month. Netflix is also accessible through Sky Glass and Virgin Media. All episodes of the Peaky Blinders series are currently available on BBC iPlayer.
