Capcom’s Resident Evil Requiem has been a huge hit, selling over five million copies in just a week. Although not officially announced, downloadable content (DLC) is probably on the way. While rumors suggested the game might focus on Alyssa Ashcroft, Grace’s mother, it now appears Leon S. Kennedy will likely be the main character.
I mentioned Alyssa earlier,” Dusk Golem explained. “I heard they’ve created a complete, working model of her, likely not for the main game, but possibly as part of some downloadable content. I don’t have any details beyond that.” More recently, rumors have started circulating about DLC focused on the character Leon, but there’s currently no information about how big it will be or what the story might involve.
Some believe this could explain the rumors surrounding Alyssa. They suggest she might appear as a character in the background, in scenes taking place before the story of Requiem. It seems content related to Leon was removed from the original game very late in production, and people think this cut content might be used later.
Apparently, this planned downloadable content was intended to be released between Resident Evil Requiem and the upcoming remakes of Code: Veronica and Zero. At the time, Requiem was expected to launch in 2025, meaning this content might have come out sooner than the Shadows of Rose expansion for Resident Evil Village.
Everyone’s wondering if this news will come out before or after the potential announcement of a Code: Veronica Remake. Dusk Golem doesn’t know the exact release date, but they think it’s odd that new amiibo figures for Grace and Leon are scheduled to launch on July 30th. They believe this timing could mean a bigger marketing campaign for the downloadable content is coming soon.
The Resident Evil series shows no signs of slowing down, and recent leaks suggest a remake of the original Resident Evil is planned, though it’s likely several years away. A remake of Resident Evil Zero might arrive in 2028, and Capcom will be holding discussions next year to decide the future direction of the series, including plans for Resident Evil 10.
Many people have been asking about it, and I wanted to share a quick update on the Resident Evil Requiem DLC. I know Resident Evil 9 DLC is also in the works, which isn’t a surprise, especially considering that every Resident Evil game since RE5…

With the exception of Resident Evil 3, most of the games have received downloadable content. Resident Evil 6 and the remake of Resident Evil 3 were originally planned to have small story expansions, but these were cancelled due to negative feedback. The planned content for RE6 involved Claire responding to the Tall Oaks incident with TerraSave, which eventually became Revelations 2, while the cancelled RE3 DLC focused on the character Nikolai.

Originally, the downloadable content for Resident Evil 9 was planned to bridge the gap between its release and the remakes of Code Veronica and Zero. This was based on a 2025 release date for RE9. However, due to delays, the DLC will now likely come out much closer to the Code Veronica remake’s release.

We expect to announce something regarding character 4/7 later this year. I previously mentioned Alyssa because I heard a complete, working version of her has been created, likely for downloadable content rather than the main game, though I don’t have any further details at this time. However, there’s more to share…

I’ve been hearing rumors that a DLC featuring Leon S. Kennedy is likely coming. While I don’t know the full details of the RE9 DLC, I suspect it will offer plenty of content to keep players engaged long after finishing the main story, as Nakanishi has indicated.

The recent update (6/8) is finished. Many games made with the RE Engine have received extra modes after they were initially released, and that’s probably what will happen here. If any story DLC focuses on Leon, it could explain how I found out about Alyssa being a playable character – perhaps she was added as part of a bonus mode for the DLC. We’ll have to wait and see, but I’m aware of some additional content that’s planned.

About 87.5% of the content was removed from the finished game, and some of it, particularly related to the character Leon, was cut very late in the development process. There are also comments from developers about Leon that didn’t make it into the final version. It’s possible some of this unused content was later reworked and used elsewhere in the game.

I’m not sure what Capcom is planning for the full release, but the Resident Evil 9 Amiibos coming out on July 30th – which unlock weapon skins and other extras – seem like they’re connected to a larger DLC marketing strategy. That’s just my feeling, though. As for where things stand right now…
