I’m really hoping the new Street Fighter movie helps bring even more people into the game! Capcom seems to think it will, and honestly, that would be awesome for the community. More players mean more matches, and that’s always a good thing!
During a discussion with investors, the company stated it plans to increase sales by coordinating its marketing efforts with the movie’s launch.
The company also anticipates continued sales increases after the movie’s release, noting that the film, starring Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, and Jason Momoa, has significant potential for growth.
By December 31st, 2025, the newest Street Fighter game had sold 6.36 million copies, putting it on track to become the highest-selling game in the entire series.
The movie comes out in theaters on October 16th, around the time the fourth season pass for the fighting game should be well underway. It’ll be fun to see what new characters they add – Alex and Ingrid are the next two confirmed fighters.
With the new movie coming out, we anticipate significant updates to the game. New character skins are almost certain, and we also expect the single-player World Tour mode to be expanded with content based on the movie’s storyline.
If the movie does well, it will probably attract people who aren’t already familiar with the game. Since Street Fighter 6 is already easy to pick up, adding content for beginners is a smart way to get even more players to try it.
