Now, Schreier’s added even more detail – apparently, games like Ghost of Yōtei and Saros won’t be coming to PC either, which is a huge disappointment!
It’s notable that Sucker Punch’s game was initially intended to be released alongside other games developed within Sony. Those plans were later canceled, though sources told journalist Jason Schreier that Sony’s strategy isn’t set in stone. Schreier also reported that some people within PlayStation were reluctant to release their exclusive games on PC, which may explain the recent shift in strategy.
Concerns were raised that this decision could hurt PS5 sales, impact future consoles, and harm the PlayStation brand as a whole. Weak sales of recent games and an unpredictable schedule for releasing titles on different platforms were also factors. Jason Schreier suggested another possibility: rumors that the next Xbox will prioritize PC gaming may have led PlayStation leadership to reconsider investing in single-player games that could also appear on that platform.
Good news for fans of competitive games – titles like Marathon, Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, and Horizon Hunters Gathering are still launching on PC and PS5 as planned. But honestly, Sony’s been pulling back on those always-online, live-service games after a few flops, so I’m not sure how many more we’ll see come to PC in the future.
