Manga Kakeru to be delisted on March 31

I was really surprised to hear that Granzella is taking down Manga Kakeru from the PlayStation Store on March 31st at 5 PM JST! It’s a shame because I know a lot of people used it to make manga. And even worse, they’re also shutting down Manga Yomeru, the site where everyone shared their creations made with Manga Kakeru, on the same day. It’s a double blow for fans!

The game Manga Kakeru was originally released in Japan for PlayStation Vita on January 26, 2018, and later became available on PlayStation 4 on June 19, 2018.

Granzella explains that the decision to remove Manga Yomeru from storefronts and shut down its website stems from the shift to new gaming consoles and a change in direction by the company that ran the service. This has made it impossible to keep the service running and add the planned new content, like fantasy-themed items.

Since its release, over 8,000 manga have been uploaded to Manga Yomeru, ranging from funny and heartwarming stories to incredibly innovative creations that push the software’s capabilities to their limits.

Granzella had begun planning a sequel to Manga Kakeru, initially called Manga Kakeru 2. However, due to significant changes in how images are created these days, they decided they couldn’t build on the original Manga Kakeru in a way that would justify a continuation.

Although Manga Kakeru is being removed from sale, players who already own it will still be able to download and use it to create content. If you’d like to buy the game, it’s currently available on the PlayStation Store for 815 yen, and one purchase gives you both the PS4 and PS Vita versions.
