Project Helix is the Next Generation of Xbox Consoles

Microsoft unexpectedly revealed the name for its next Xbox consoles: Project Helix. So far, it’s just a logo, and a subtle hint of the brand’s signature green color can be seen within it.

Good news! Microsoft Gaming’s new CEO, Asha Sharma, recently shared on Twitter that ‘Helix’ is the internal codename for their next Xbox console. She says it will deliver top-tier performance and play all your Xbox and PC games. She’s excited to discuss it further with developers and partners at her first Game Developers Conference next week!

There’s been a lot of talk about what the next Xbox will be like. Reports suggest its main processor, currently known as ‘Magnus,’ will heavily integrate with Windows 11. Microsoft is rumored to be bringing Windows 11’s full-screen mode to the console, and also letting players continue to enjoy games from the Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.

I’m so excited! It sounds like they’re not just sticking to one place to buy the game – they’re looking at Battle.net and Steam, which is awesome. We might get a reveal later this year, and they’re aiming for a 2027 release, but honestly, with RAM being hard to come by worldwide, things could get pushed back. Apparently, the teams working on Windows and Xbox are really working together this time, but even if everything goes perfectly, a launch next year is still considered a really optimistic goal – not a definite promise.

Honestly, it’s still early days, but this definitely feels like Satya Nadella is following through on his promise to really focus on Xbox since he took the reins from Phil Spencer. We’ll just have to see how things play out, but it’s a good sign so far.
