2026 will be a significant year for the franchise, marking a major anniversary celebrated with a new movie. But Takara Tomy isn’t stopping there – they’re also planning special releases of other films from the series’ history, designed specifically for dedicated fans.
A new promotional image has been released for the upcoming “Jetfire Combine” two-pack from the Dramatic Capture Series. This set, based on the 2009 film Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, features updated and improved versions of Optimus Prime and Jetfire figures. The set will be available for purchase in Japan soon and showcases the iconic combination in a way that captures the excitement of the movie.
Optimus Prime and Jetfire Combine Again for New Transformers: Dramatic Capture Toys
The “Jetfire Combine” set from the Dramatic Capture Series features repainted versions of two previously released figures: the Voyager-class Optimus Prime (SS-32) and the Leader-class ROTF Jetfire (SS-35). These figures have been updated with more accurate colors to match their look in the movie Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.
Optimus Prime changes into a classic Peterbilt 379 semi-truck, and Jetfire transforms into an SR-71 Blackbird jet. When they’re in robot form, Jetfire wields both a cane and a battleaxe, while Prime is equipped with his Ion blaster and the pair of blades he famously used during the forest battle in Revenge of the Fallen, bringing a memorable moment from the film to life.
This new color scheme makes the Optimus Prime toy look much more like his on-screen appearance than the older version. The toy itself is based on a design inspired by his look in the film. It still has the ability to combine with the Jetfire toy in robot mode, a feature that pays tribute to a similar combination seen in the animated series Transformers: Armada.
Coming about fifteen years after the movie’s release, this two-pack will be available for purchase soon, though the exact release date and price are still to be announced. Takara Tomy’s Dramatic Capture Series toys debuted in 2024 to mark the franchise’s 40th anniversary, and they’ve continued to feature pairings or groups of characters from across the brand’s history.
