Jeannie Mai is getting real about her dating life.
Jezyy’s ex-wife, who ended her two-year marriage to the rapper in 2023 and officially divorced him in 2024, says she’s now prioritizing her own happiness while dating. At 47, she’s determined to focus on her own needs in any future serious relationship.
In a video posted on March 5th, she explained that she wasn’t seeking approval, but rather making her own assessment. She said she was evaluating whether she felt like her true self when she was with someone, and whether she liked herself in those moments.
After all, Jeannie said, “It’s been a minute since I let somebody see me fully me.”
Dating in Los Angeles is already incredibly competitive, she explained. Plus, it seems like everyone is hesitant to get emotionally invested. This time around, though, I’m setting higher expectations for myself and what I want.
The Daytime Emmy winner emphasized her new mindset, adding, “Being in my presence is a privilege.”
That’s why Jeannie recently took herself out on a solo date, documenting it in her vlog.
She stated firmly that she wouldn’t dim her own light to please others. Her biggest realization, she explained, was a commitment to always prioritize her own well-being and stay true to herself.
I was really struck by what Faith said about her divorce from Jeezy, especially how she described it. She said it felt like going through a kind of living death, which is heartbreaking to hear, especially knowing how much their daughter, Monaco, is affected. It just puts everything into perspective.
Jeanie recently shared on the Question Everything podcast that divorce is incredibly painful, saying it’s honestly one of the hardest things a person can go through.
She explained that divorce creates a really difficult situation where you have to focus on self-protection and getting your needs met, and she felt it was a truly awful experience.

So, will she ever consider walking down the aisle again?
Jeannie, who was married to Freddy Harteis from 2007 to 2018, said she would, explaining she doesn’t want to limit herself in any way.
You can’t limit love or decide where you’ll find it. It’s not something you can just choose, like saying you’ll never get married again.
Jeannie isn’t the only celebrity to go through a tough divorce. Here’s a look at some other costly celebrity splits.

The golf star’s career and public image were severely damaged when reports surfaced of his affairs with many women. He and his wife, model Elin Nordegren, divorced in August 2010 after almost six years of marriage and having two children. While the exact details weren’t made public, reports claim he paid his wife $750 million in the divorce settlement.

While the song says “Love Don’t Cost a Thing,” it seems it actually did for Jennifer Lopez. After meeting while working on the music video for the song, she married Cris Judd in September 2001. Sadly, the marriage didn’t last, and J.Lo filed for divorce less than a year later, claiming they had irreconcilable differences. Although the details weren’t made public, reports suggest J.Lo paid Judd $14 million in the divorce settlement.

As a longtime follower of celebrity news, I remember being shocked by the details of Mel Gibson and Robyn Gibson’s divorce. After 28 years together and seven children, it was one of the most expensive Hollywood splits ever! Because they didn’t have a prenuptial agreement, Robyn reportedly received half of Mel’s $850 million fortune. It took them a full two years, according to TopMob News, to finally come to a settlement – a really drawn-out and difficult process, I imagine.

When the pop star and her director husband divorced in 2008, she had to give him a significant portion of her wealth because they didn’t have a prenuptial agreement. Reports at the time estimated the settlement to be between $72 and $92 million, according to her representative.

Paul McCartney and Heather Mills married in 2002, but their relationship ended after only four years. Their divorce was complicated by legal disputes, and when it was finalized in 2008, Mills reportedly received almost $48.7 million from McCartney’s wealth. She also allegedly received $70,000 each month to support their four-year-old daughter, Beatrice.

Donald and Ivana Trump married in a grand celebration in 1977, but their marriage ended in divorce in 1992 following reports of Donald’s relationship with Marla Maples, a former beauty queen. After 15 years and three children, Ivana reportedly received a $20 million divorce settlement, though the details are confidential.

Kevin and Cindy were college sweethearts who married in 1978 while still students. Their marriage lasted 16 years, ending in divorce in 1994. They had three children – Annie, Lily, and Joe – and Cindy reportedly received $80 million in their divorce settlement.

Neil reportedly began a relationship with the TV producer while still married to his first wife, Jane Posner. Marcia married the singer-songwriter in 1969 and they had two sons, Jesse and Micah. After 25 years of marriage, she filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences, and received $150 million in the settlement – half of Neil’s earnings. Despite the costly divorce, Neil later said he felt it was worth the money, stating that “she’s worth every penny.”

Michael and Juanita Jordan, who were married in 1989 and have three children, finalized their divorce in 2006 after a brief attempt to reconcile. They originally wed in Las Vegas. The divorce settlement was reportedly worth $168 million, paid by Michael Jordan.

Country music star Kenny Rogers went through five divorces, and his split from his fourth wife, Marianne Gordon, was the most costly. They were married for 16 years and had one child together, but divorced in 1993. Reports say Rogers paid around $60 million as part of the settlement.

Lionel Richie and Diane Alexander divorced in 2003 after seven years of marriage and two children together, citing disagreements they couldn’t resolve. During the divorce proceedings, Diane reportedly requested $15,000 each month for clothing and $20,000 annually for plastic surgery. The final settlement reportedly involved Richie paying her around $20 million.

In June 2000, the businessman married his fourth wife, an actress he’d met at an Vanity Fair party following the Oscars. They divorced in 2006. Reports claim Ellen received a very large settlement and also made over $20 million from selling jewelry he’d given her.

The actress had a complicated relationship with the director. They dated on and off throughout the late 1970s, even briefly separating for a relationship with her Honeysuckle Rose co-star, Willie Nelson. They eventually married in 1985, but their reunion was short-lived, ending in divorce in 1989. Reports indicate the divorce settlement totaled $100 million.

Harrison Ford and Melissa Mathison, after 18 years of marriage and a short try to get back together, finalized their divorce in 2004. They share two children. The divorce settlement reportedly included a payment of $118 million from Harrison Ford to Melissa Mathison, as they hadn’t signed a prenuptial agreement and had significant assets to divide.

Alex and Cynthia divorced in 2008 after being together for six years and having two children. The details of their expensive divorce settlement have not been made public.

The Academy Award-winning actor married the 19-year-old daughter of an Austrian diplomat in 1977, and they had a son the following year. Diane filed for divorce in 1995 and reportedly received a $45 million settlement, plus a portion of the profits from Michael’s work during their marriage.

After 23 years of marriage and two children, Brooke and Nick, Linda divorced her husband when she discovered his affair with Christiane Plante. The divorce settlement reportedly exceeded $30 million, giving Linda over 70% of their cash and investments, several luxury cars, a $3 million property settlement, and 40% ownership in his businesses.

Mick Jagger, the lead singer of The Rolling Stones, married model Jerry Hall in 1990. Their marriage ended in 1999 when Jerry discovered Mick had a child with Luciana Morad, a Brazilian model. The divorce settlement reportedly gave Jerry $25 million after nine years of marriage.

The winner of the Daytona 500 married Brooke in 1994, but they divorced in 2002 after eight years. Although they didn’t have children, the divorce settlement was reportedly a significant $15 million.
