The sci-fi movie War Machine is now available! It premiered in Australian cinemas on February 12, 2026, and will be streaming worldwide on Netflix starting March 6th. Directed by Patrick Hughes – known for action films like Red Hill, The Expendables 3, The Hitman’s Bodyguard, and The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard – War Machine promises some incredible action sequences.
Although we don’t know much about the characters yet, we now have some information about the movie’s cast and storyline. The film centers on a group of Army Ranger recruits facing the final, incredibly difficult day of their training. What starts as a routine endurance test quickly becomes a fight for survival when the recruits encounter a deadly mechanical enemy they’re completely unprepared for. The movie, War Machine, boasts a fantastic cast, so let’s take a look at where you might have seen the actors before.
Alan Ritchson

Amazon Prime Video
Alan Ritchson has quickly become a well-known actor, largely due to his starring role in the popular Prime Video series, Reacher. He’s the main star in a new movie where he plays a soldier whose name we don’t know. While some of his recent films haven’t been successful, hopefully this one will do better. Playdate and Motor City are good examples of movies that didn’t quite hit the mark.
Fans have good reason to be excited about Ritchson’s new role, as he consistently delivers strong performances when playing military characters. He was excellent as a former military policeman in Reacher and as decorated WWII officer Anders Lassen in The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. Many viewers also remember his work in the war film Ghosts of War. Hopefully, War Machine will be just as impressive and even successful enough to warrant a sequel.
Esai Morales

CBS
Esai Morales appears as Army officer Torres in War Machine. A veteran actor, Morales has worked consistently in film and television since the 1980s. He recently gained recognition playing Gabriel, the primary antagonist in the 2023 action-spy film Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, and will reprise the role in Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning set to release in 2025.
Javier Morales is a talented actor who’s worked on all sorts of projects, from funny comedies to action-packed superhero series. But many of his fans are hoping he plays a villain next time, because he’s particularly good at playing the bad guy. He was fantastic in the Mission Impossible films, and anyone who watched Ozark on Netflix probably still remembers how scary he was as the ruthless cartel member, Camino Del Rio. Seriously, that scene where he threw someone off a building was chilling!
Dennis Quaid

Paramount Plus
Dennis Quaid is taking on the role of Army Sgt. Maj. Sheridan in the film War Machine. Similar to his son, Jack Quaid, Dennis has been consistently appearing in successful projects lately, including the biopic Reagan and the critically acclaimed horror film The Substance. He played a particularly nasty character in The Substance, so fans will be excited if Sgt. Maj. Sheridan shares that same tough personality.
Fans are wondering if we’ll see an actor deliver a performance as iconic as R. Lee Ermey’s Sgt. Hartman. With Dennis Quaid taking on a new war film, there’s good reason to be excited – he excels at playing characters in positions of power. He’s no stranger to the genre, having previously starred in the WWII film Midway as Vice Admiral William “Bull” Halsey, a highly decorated naval officer.
Stephan James

Annapurna Pictures
I’m really intrigued by the news that Stephan James has joined the cast! Details are scarce about who he’ll be playing, but word is he’s going to be a key part of the main team. Honestly, he’s been on my radar for a while – so many fans, myself included, thought he’d be perfect as Miles Morales in a live-action Spider-Man movie. Plus, he’s already proven he can deliver in powerful roles – have you seen him in films like If Beale Street Could Talk and Selma? Seriously fantastic work.
James received a lot of positive attention for his performance as Jesse Owens, the four-time Olympic gold medalist, in the film Race. He won a Canadian Screen Award for Best Actor because of it, and was also nominated for an NAACP Image Award. Could this be the role that finally catapults his career to the next level?
Jai Courtney
Jai Courtney naturally looks the part of a soldier, and it’s surprising he hasn’t had more roles like that. He’s best known for playing Kyle Reese in Terminator Genisys and the villain Captain Boomerang in the Suicide Squad movies.

Courtney might seem best suited for action roles, but he’s proven he can deliver a compelling performance behind the scenes, especially in a military thriller. He showed this in The Terminal List, where he played a villainous billionaire involved in a shady drug program designed to eliminate trauma and supposedly ‘cure’ PTSD. It was a complex and nuanced role, and audiences are hoping his next project, War Machine, will give him a similarly challenging part.
The Supporting Cast of ‘War Machine’
The film War Machine boasts a talented supporting cast featuring some well-known actors. Jack Patten, currently starring as Robin Hood in the MGM+ series, will bring his impressive physicality and energy to the role – he’s proven to be a fantastic action performer. Keiynan Lonsdale, famous for playing Wally West (Kid Flash) in The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow, also joins the cast. Rounding out the group is Daniel Webber, known for his compelling biographical portrayals, including Lee Harvey Oswald in 11.22.63 and Tommy Lee in The Dirt. With such a strong ensemble, the film is sure to deliver outstanding performances. Get ready for War Machine!
