Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes have perfect chemistry.
Ryan Reynolds and Eva Longoria recently showed off their friendly connection when Reynolds sent Longoria birthday greetings while appearing on The Tonight Show. It was the first time the two have been seen together publicly in over ten years.
Ryan, who has two daughters – 11-year-old Esmeralda and 9-year-old Amada – with Eva, joked that he might be swimming in the Hudson River tomorrow.
Even though Eva and Ryan generally avoid attention, Eva went onstage and held Ryan’s hand when Jimmy Fallon and the audience sang “Happy Birthday,” accompanied by a high school marching band. Jimmy made sure Eva knew the surprise was all Ryan’s idea and a testament to their relationship.
Eva and Ryan have been together since 2011, and while they’ve never publicly confirmed a marriage, Eva started calling him her “husband” in 2022. She recently showed her affection for him with a sweet kiss.
Though they’ve been seen together at the 2024 Olympics and celebrating Ryan’s hosting of Saturday Night Live in April, their appearance on The Tonight Show was the first time the famously private couple had appeared publicly together since the 2013 premiere of their movie, The Place Beyond the Pines.
With Ryan’s new movie, Project Hail Mary, set to release on March 20th, Eva has been his most enthusiastic supporter during promotion. She jokingly confessed she wasn’t thrilled about sharing him with his digital alien co-star!

Eva playfully expressed jealousy over her “Expendables 4” costar, Sylvester Stallone (known as Rocky), in an Instagram comment on February 8th. She joked that he and Jason Statham spent so much time together they even started exchanging rings, adding, “What the heck?!” with a winking emoji.
While creating Project Hail Mary, Ryan also got input from his daughters, and Eva, who had paused her acting career to prioritize family.
Ryan shared in a February 26th interview with Access Hollywood that his children have seen several versions of his work. He values their feedback above all others, describing them as honest and tough critics. They often give him detailed notes.
For the Barbie star, having his daughters’ opinion is “always better.”

Oh my gosh, Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes! I swear, from the moment they played love interests in A Place Beyond the Pines back in 2012, I knew they were meant to be. It wasn’t long after filming that they started dating, and honestly, it was the most perfect on-set romance ever! I’ve been shipping them since day one.
Three years after the film came out, Ryan shared with Hello magazine that he’s confident he’s with the right person. When asked what he loves most about his partner, he simply said, “She’s Eva Mendes.”
As he put it, “There’s nothing else I’m looking for.”

For Ryan, life with Eva and their daughters Esmeralda and Amada is “heaven.”
He described his life as being like walking through a beautiful flower field daily. In a 2016 interview on Good Morning America, he shared that he felt surrounded by wonderful people – ‘angels,’ as he put it – and that they brought light to difficult times.

When Ryan Gosling won a Golden Globe in 2017 for La La Land, he dedicated the award to Eva Mendes and her late brother, Juan Carlos Méndez Jr. In his speech, he explained that while he enjoyed making the film, Eva was simultaneously raising their daughter, pregnant with their second child, and supporting her brother as he battled cancer.
Ryan continued, “If she hadn’t taken on so much to allow me this opportunity, someone else would definitely be standing here today. So, thank you, darling.”

Eva Longoria always believed motherhood wasn’t in her future, until she met Ryan Gosling, as she jokingly put it.
She explained to Women’s Health in 2019 that falling in love with him was the reason she wanted to be a parent – not to have children of her own, but to help raise his. She emphasized that this desire was unique to her relationship with him.

In 2019, Eva described life with Ryan and their two daughters to Access, saying it was a mix of joy, beauty, and occasional frustration.
She admitted it was challenging. “At the end of the day, after the kids are in bed, Ryan and I just look at each other, relieved that we made it through okay.”

In May 2020, Eva explained to a fan on Instagram that she and Ryan prefer to keep their family life private. She shared that she doesn’t discuss Ryan’s qualities as a father because she values keeping that aspect of their lives personal.
You know, when it comes to sharing personal details, I’ve learned it’s important to stick to what I feel comfortable with. I’m choosing to keep certain things private, especially when it comes to my family – I don’t want to draw my kids or partner into things that are really my own journey. It’s a boundary I’m setting, and honestly, it feels right for me. I hope that makes sense – it’s truly how I feel.

Likewise, Ryan didn’t really have baby on the brain until Eva came along.
In a 2023 interview with GQ, the actor admitted he hadn’t considered having children before meeting Eva Longoria. However, once he did, he knew he didn’t want to raise a family with anyone else.
Ryan shared that while filming The Place Beyond the Pines, he felt a genuine connection with his co-stars and wished their on-screen family dynamic was real. He described realizing he’d be very happy to have that kind of life.

When it comes to parenting, Ryan also admittedly looks to his longtime love.
I rely on Eva a lot,” he said in a 2023 interview with GQ. “She always has a good sense of what really matters, and just knows what to do. So whenever I’m overthinking things, I ask her for advice.

Thinking back on his life before meeting Eva, the actor from The Notebook explained, “I was searching for someone like her, really.”
He added, “But it all makes sense now.”

After the hit movie Barbie, Eva publicly showed her support for Ryan, praising him on Instagram in January 2024. She acknowledged the criticism he faced when he first accepted the role, writing that she was “so proud of my man.”
Even with all the criticism and jokes online, he developed a truly unique and moving character that became incredibly famous and ultimately earned an Oscar nomination.

Eva says working with Ryan Gosling on The Place Beyond the Pines was a transformative experience. In a March 2024 interview on Today, she described his acting process as unlike anything she’d ever witnessed.
“The way he works, his commitment to his craft, how he wants to make everything as best as it can be,” the Girl in Progress star shared, “and that means making his costars as best as they can be.”

But for Ryan, Eva is the one doling out the acting lessons.
He told Extra in May 2024 that she’s the best acting coach he’s ever worked with, and that her support is limitless.
